My wife and I just finished Season 1. Fantastic! Gradually through 10 episodes, the chief detective and his two able assistants unravel the crimes behind two murders in a remote, Icelandic town. With a good script and good acting, the many elements of the plot come together at the end in a very convincing and satisfying way. We have watched all the well-know detective series (Wallander, The Bridge, etc.). This series rates with the best. We wanted to binge watch the whole thing, but mostly limited ourselves to one episode per evening.

View MoreEver since I watched and thoroughly enjoyed the Danish crime drama series 'The Killing', I've been on the lookout for other similar foreign crime shows as they often prove to be lesser known gems. 'Trapped', set in Iceland, is another gripping TV series that has you hooked from the first episode, and remains highly engaging until the last.It has an intelligent and well-structured plot, with no obvious plot holes to speak of. It's always satisfying when a plot is believable and relatively easy to follow, without trying to be too smart. 'Trapped' has a simple but effective plot, which is generally what the audience want from a series like this.'Trappped' also has some unique characteristics, such as the setting, which adds nicely to the atmosphere and tension in the film. This is a well-written, intelligent show that I would recommend to anybody who enjoys a mystery.
... View MoreThe scenes pay no attention to time of day or weather or locations. We see people enter a building from a snowstorm and exit into melted streets or get in car in sunshine and get out into blowing snow a few blocks later. There are lots of characters that pop in and out at random. Far too many subplots fill in time but do not add to the story. This program needs a good editor. The major premise of a terrible storm stopping transportation to the town for several days is not borne out by the weather in several of the scenes. When called upon, police arrive by helicopter so presumably it is some distance to the town from Reykjavik, but later in the series police cars seem to pop in from Reykjavik in only a short time after they are sent for. It looks like the series was shot over a whole season not the tale of ten days that it purports to be.
... View MoreEach time I watch a Hollywood movie/TV show that involves some kind of heroism or similar extraordinary act, I always think to myself how the characters rise to the occasion so easily and their acts are so explicit.Trapped avoids this pitfall beautifully.I reckon that, the utter realism of the characters portraits, their difficult decisions that DO feel difficult, the fact that they are likable and dis-likable due to plausible, human behavior is the most strong attribute of this TV show.I won't even delve into effects, cinematography, music and general production quality: it's the BBC for crying out loud.I will stick with the great, could-happen-but-still-extraordinary story (with suspense, nice twists and turns and cliffhangers), the excellent character build, and the subtle satisfaction that things don't just fall into place conveniently, nor the director throws stuff to my face: the story unfolds naturally and I can even relate to the main characters. It's excellent - don't miss it.
