One of the most intense thing ever viewed...3 days of pure binge-watching. Sixties music and Ross-Reznor OST make it unforgettable.

What our politicians did to our military men was criminal. Then how they were treated by our own countrymen was equally criminal.I've enjoyed Ken Burns documentaries on other subjects and hope to be able to stay with it. He does seem to have a bias...

I've absorbed much of what's been offered to date including books, other documentaries, and the films detailing this time of terrible struggle for our troops, the Amount erican people, and those who fought on both sides or were caught in the crossfire in Viet Nam. This collection of ten episodes is the most comprehensive description of what happened including insightful commentary from those who were there. For those who think the content is politicized, that battle was fought long ago. You only have to listen to those who were there to know the truth and this collection of their moving testimonies at times brought me to tears. If you want to know what happened or if you want to grant the wish of many who lived through that time and learn from our mistakes so we don't repeat them, this is required viewing.

THE VIETNAM WAR is another exemplary documentary series from producer Ken Burns; I would call it his best yet, but when he's done so many good ones - including the Roosevelts and WW2 - it's difficult to say that. Certainly this is a moving, engaging piece of filmmaking that had me in tears more than once. It's a lengthy, thorough chronological account of the war in Vietnam, from French colonial times through to the fall of Saigon and beyond, and it's told by the men who were there fighting in the front line, from the American, South Vietnamese, and North Vietnamese perspectives. Given that this was a modern war, there's a whole wealth of filmed footage to accompany the interviews and Peter Coyote's splendid narration; the end result can't be bettered and really does tell you everything you could ever need to know.
