I didn't think it could get better than Hell on Wheels but AMC have out done themselves on this one! I have never been a big fan of Pierce Brosnan but this part was made for him and he has definitely won me over in this series. The cast and the beautiful scenery down to the story line will keep you enthralled. If you are looking for a reason to watch a great western or even if that's not your thing I promise you won't find anything better than this in 2017 and I just found out there is a 2nd season coming this year! I look forward to seeing what's next in the McCullough family's future!

Ok, let me get this off my chest. I don't stare at the TV, hanging on every utterance every glance and every facial expression. So I don't do well with some of these modern directing styles where the viewer has to dedicate themselves to studying the details of each moment of film. Having said that I still think this needed a narrator. I couldn't follow a damn thing until I started reading reviews. Once I did understand what was going on I was even more bored than before. Blech. If you want entertainment, find something else. If you want to study something as if there will be a final on it, you'll love this show.

At the time of writing, The Son has just concluded it's first season. There is nothing wrong with it, hence my high rating, but it's nothing special either, though I don't dock points for such.My main criticism would be that the story is split. The split is between 2 time-lines, centered around the same character, Eli McCullough. The back and forth between these time-lines allows us to see how Eli became the man he is today, or at least that seems to be the idea. Both time-lines have interesting stories going, but each of these is capable of standing alone. Because very little use of the connection between time-lines is made, I think it would have been better to do them both as separate shows, or just pick one.Anyway, I've enjoyed season one, and look forward to season two. If you need something to binge, or have an extra slot on your watch list, this will do the job, but it probably won't be your favourite show.

They had to bring in the debased hidden underworld of transsexualism and abnormal sexual practices for the day. I have no desire to watch your sick needs to try to normalize it in today's culture. So I am done.... Always have to make some statement. Weil I turned mine off. I loved the story line as long as it fit in the day norms instead of trying to make our current struggles the norm back then I don't want to watch it... As long as you continue with freaks for their day and mine. I really have not interest. It is a shame because I love it till then. ButI don't know many horse or western people who want to see , transgender and house of anything goes. It is not accurate and I don't want to watch it.
