When I was little, my sister turned to MTV and an episode of Ren and Stimpy was on. It was the Space Madness episode where Ren and Stimpy are in space and Ren goes crazy. I remember my sister and I laughing when Stimpy was tapping the table and Ren starts to go off. From there, I was hooked on the show. The first season is the best. With episodes like In The Army, Powdered Toastman, or my favorite Visit to Anthony's. The animation is absolutely hilarious, and the shows are very well written. Just recently I got my filming buddies interested in the commentary which is actually a fun listen. After the first season and the firing of John K, the show started to go down in quality. There are some funny episodes, even in the later seasons (Maid Moron and Haggis McHaggis episodes) but then the show starts to make no sense. The last season was really weird, and it was like they did drugs before making an episode. What's even more insulting is that the DVDs cut a lot of scenes out of some episodes. I'm not sure if this is to save space, or if they are censoring it, but I like my DVDs uncut, thank you very much!Ren and Stimpy are still classics, in my opinion. I still proudly own the DVDS, and I have gone back and watched them. I think they are even funnier when you are an adult.

Ren and Stimpy is a show which apparently would set the stage for other gross, adult shows like Bevis and Butt-Head. The premise is that it focuses on the deranged, strange and mostly untamed exploits of Ren a crazed, lunatic Chihuahua with the donkey ears and his companion Stimpy a kind but half brain-dead, mucus picking, hairball-whiffing Manx feline and the other weird characters that inhabit their world e.g. Mr Horse, Muddy Mudskipper, Kolwaski, Circus Midgets. The show had a long and troubled history with it's broadcaster Nickelodion due to some of the content edging dangerously overboard into adult territory which is a shame because it is a really good show. Unlike other comedy shows R+S rarely used verbal jokes and resorted to more gross, visual gags and extreme close-ups but don't be put off by that. Because once you see their tales of Space Madness, Kity Litter, Rubber Nipples and Magic nose Goblins complete with limited continuity, you'll wish the train of Sickness would never end.

The Ren & Stimpy Show was one of the original three Nicktoons (the other two are Doug and Rugrats). It premiered in 1991, and from then on an animated masterpiece was born! Ren and Stimpy are great characters, the writing is hilarious and it even has some adult humor in it, (kids most likely won't pick up on any of it) which just adds to how genius this show is. The show went downhill a little when John Kricfalusi (the man who created this show and voiced Ren) was fired, but it was still good. Everyone should watch this show it is hilarious. I highly recommend buying the DVD sets of this show. It is the best cartoon Nickelodeon ever had, and it's the best cartoon since the golden age! It's the funniest cartoon I've ever seen, and it makes me really mad when I hear people talking bad about it. The Ren & Stimpy Show is an amazing cartoon that is always funny in every episode. This and Rocko's Modern Life will be greatly missed, and will be remembered as being Nickelodeon's best cartoons. Everyone should watch this awesome show.10 out of 10.

Johnny K. drop kicked animation into the next phase when he created this masterpiece.Non-stop non sequitors were all over the place. I couldn't stop laughing. And the situations seemed to be an ongoing contest of how unrealistic can we be. The deadpan deliveries added to the fun.Kirsch lost the rights to this at one point and the new owners RUINED it. It became an abuse/gross-fest. So make sure you see the Spumco versions only. The DVD has it all un-cut now. And it's still funnier than anything on today. Seth MacFarlane had to have been a fan. This and the great "Liquid Television" deserve to be kept alive.
