There is no foolish wand waving and silly incantations in this series. The Magicians is not like Harry Potter!!! Its more like Xmen!!!and Naruto, with all that Ninjutsu!! Treat it like Xmen and you wont ruin your childhood memories of Potter world. And you will end up liking it if you just dont make any connection to Harry Potter series.

I love this show like an addict. I hope they will never stop making it. Here is what I like about it. CAST is perfect. These young actors did an excellent job bringing their characters to life. Everybody is unique and likable. DIALOGS, funny jokes and metaphors, creative language, each sentence is like a little gem. STORY, complex, pretty unpredictable, interesting, original. Off course some of ideas directly rip off Harry Potter, Narnia and probably more, but it's a good rip off, I swear :) Besides, they have so many original plots that I've never seen anywhere else.

I went in this expecting it to be cheesy and cheaply made since it airs on Syfy. I was wrong. Completely wrong. While it's has several twists and turns and you have to remember small characters because they come back to be important roles in their journeys- the show is constant and never feels like a wasted episode like the over-scripted/plotted TV shows now. Not only is this show about magic, but it's about finding yourself and growing up. You have to peel away the meaning behind some things, but it's worth it.

First off I'll say I haven't read the books which I think makes me more qualified to give an impartial review of the TV SHOW without all the BS references to how this wasn't like the book or that isn't like that book or whatever. This is a fun show. It has all the elements of fantasy and adventure that anyone who enjoys those types of shows will enjoy. The characters are (for the most part) well developed and the actors are doing a great job with the material. A very good entertaining watch for anyone who enjoys adventure themed shows/movies or magic.
