I've given this series one star for Elizabeth Debicki's haircut, and 1 for the scenery/filmography. Otherwise, its an utter waste of time. Entices you with the first 2 episodes, bores you with the next 3, and from then on its just a complete disappointment until you get to the finale, which you won't even realise is the finale until you check IMDb. Cannot think of a single mystery/teaser raised during the series (and there were many) that was in anyway resolved. Acting is good but none of the characters behave in a relatable or even rational manner.
... View MoreThe Ketering Incident is a show best watched at night, with the lights off and curtains drawn. I've been watching a few of these types lately, which are dark, long and drawn out and this one has been pretty good. I find it similar to Top of the Lake. Some may not enjoy the slow pace that is used but I think it builds suspense as your eyes are glues to the characters, looking for significant clues to solve the murder of young Chloe and also what the hell is going on with all this other weird sh!t. The final scene was great! I didn't pick it, that's for sure. But I'm still not clear on exactly this whole medical research/abduction/moth ridden story line. Is it alien related or is it our own planet that is trying to get rid of us? I thought the lead was well acted out albeit a little frustrating at times as there just wasn't a huge amount of dialogue going on but considering the finale, she can't be blamed for lack of personality. The revenge plot explanation involving Rene, Chloe and the prank caller girl felt a little "rushed" and out of place, as if it were only decided as an explanation much later in the writing process. Was it just me or was there a flashback scene showing Barb and Anna's Father, Roy, dancing romantically to the "Crimson and Clover" song that eluded to them having an affair and potentially making Roy the Father of all three girls, Anna, Gilliam and Chloe? It was at that point that I thought Roy would end up being some Alien species, procreating for the sake of DNA experiments but that soon went down the gurgle cause nothing came of it.I've just read Season 2 will be diving even deeper into the darkness so I'll be watching.
... View MoreJust finished watching this series and was so confused at the ending in the last episode – it made no sense to me.I read many other reviews hoping someone could explain it but nope. And then I looked at the critics reviews section and "father son holy gore" in their review of the final episode explains it. Basically many of the people in the town including Anna are clones and the original real people are down in that underground cellar world. Definitely read the review I mentioned for a more detailed explanation. Gorgeous scenery, some likable characters, a lot of strangeness. Would have liked a second season now that it makes more sense.
... View MoreI TOTALLY wished I had known beforehand that the final episode was going to be a horrible ending, leaving me with more questions than answers. I really would NOT have watched it if I had known beforehand! I've heard that they are thinking about doing a Season 2 but there's no guarantee that they will. And that doesn't help me right now. I admit that I was very hooked on watching the show, which is the reason that I gave it 3 stars instead of one, but I was hooked because I couldn't wait to find out what was really going on. I feel like all the time I took out to watch this show was wasted because the major questions I had were NOT answered. I wanted confirmation that there were aliens and UFOs but you don't get any. I would also like to have seen why there were so many moths, what was the significance of the color red, and why was moss growing everywhere, even on people. If you are thinking about watching this show, I'd advise that you wait until they have come out with Season 2.
