Normally I don't watch series with new crimes to solve in every episode. Series like CSI, Numbers and so on tends to bore me. But this one caught my attention. It has a good background story, the acting is good and the dialogues are brilliant, James Spader is awesome! But after 5 seasons with lots of plottwists and not knowing who Raymond Reddington is, I must say I'm pretty tired of the chase for the truth..In my opinion the lenght of this series is to exaggerated! The team helps Reddington to take out some of the worst criminals in the world, but it seems way to easy to catch the masterminds in opinion. The Blacklist is creative and good entertainment, but nothing more.

I love this show. I love the intricacy, action, comic relief....the lead is HOT....There are many twists and turns that I don't see coming. Great soundtrack, too! I get a maniacal laugh going when Red is performing his antics and plans. I kept up with it for about 2 seasons when they first aired. I wasn't able to record some subsequent episodes, so I put the series on hold. I have recently returned to it. I had to watch the first 2 seasons over again. I have a TERRIBLE memory. So bad that I didn't remember anything about the first 2 seasons . I have been binging for several days now, and have enjoyed every episode. So why did I mark off 1 star? There are some details where one has to suspend disbelief. Pretty obviously. SPOILER!>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>There is a recurring detail where Agent Keen hot wires cars. She would not be able to just put 2 wires together (even if she carried wire strippers, which it doesn't appear that she does) on a car any newer than the '60's. (and even then, you had to put 2 together, then use a third to make the starter turn) It's pretty glaring. I mean, they don't even show her defeating the locking steering wheel, much less the keys with the chips in them that are used now. This is just an example. There are other similar events that make me shake my head, but I can stand to ignore them to enjoy the majority of the show. At least so far there have not been any nail guns that shoot people and kill them. LOL END SPOILER>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Give this show a try if you like action and espionage type programs. You won't regret it!

I don't like police procedurals. I mean, I like the procedural part of the show, but most times, I dislike the characters who populate these dramas. They tend to be unsympathetic, dispassionate martinets who see the world in black and white and either punch or shoot their way through an episode. I make this admission in order to give weight to my admiration for the Blacklist, which most certainly is a police procedural, but is so much more than that. I'm kept alertly amused by the byzantine twists and turns of the plots. I genuinely like the characters in this programme, even Donald Ressler who comes closest to the stereotypical punch and shoot fellows I mentioned earlier. Of all the characters in the show, he's the one that has evolved the most over the last five years . The real beauty of the show lies in its careful examination of the nature of morality, exemplified, of course in Raymond Reddington. Reddington is a criminal and a killer, but is capable of great kindness. That dichotomy is the meat of the blacklist. How can we empathize with such a man? How, indeed. In this case, his love for Elizabeth Keen and his willingness to give the FBI team information that puts bad people away puts a human face to his frequently monstrous behaviour. In the end, bad guys are caught and we learn a little more about the enduring mystery of Ramond Reddington. This is a gripping, well written, well acted drama that I look forward to seeing each week.

It had an interesting start, but in season 4 it really started to be crazy and it is badly unrealistic.
