Scream Queens combines the classic, lovable qualities of John Hughes' brat pack films combined with the cheesy horror of 80's slasher films. It follows a cast of delightfully superficial characters, inspired by Heathers, dressed in the finest couture. The writing is absolutely ASTOUNDING. The dialogue is biting, quick-witted, and overall, hilarious, and there's a TON of character development. One of my favorite things about this show is analyzing Chanel Oberlin (Emma Roberts) character arc. On the surface, Oberlin is cold and shallow, but throughout the series, we see that she is willing to make sacrifices for her friends and is deep down, actually a pretty awesome character. What makes Scream Queens so unique is that it follows a mainly- female cast of Millennial characters struggling with issues that many young women do experience, mixed in with the campy fun of a serial killing antagonist that's right out of Scooby Doo. I'm actually quite disappointed because I heard the ratings were terrible for this show, and apparently season three might not be happening. Not many young women have cable, and many of the viewers of this series are of this particular demographic, so I find it rather upsetting that they're basing the future of the show on ratings. Honestly, I've never encountered a series that is quite as campy, empowering, or inspiring as Scream Queens. I hope that they create season three, because as a young woman, I feel as if not many shows nowadays really speak to me the way this does. So many try, but not many succeed. In fact, I can't name one that's quite as great as Scream Queens. Also, on a more technical note, the acting, cinematography, costuming, editing, and production design in this show is just fantastic. I know a lot of people praise American Horror Story, and this is really similar in terms of cinematography and editing. Give it a chance, I know you'll just love it! :)

Just like in American Horror Story. Also, I predict that the show will be getting worse each season. The acting of Emma Roberts is so annoying that sometimes I can't even finish the episode because of her. I hardly even recognized Chad in season 2 due to the fact his character was completely different in season 1. Somewhat more funnier and very much entertaining. This season he looks like he is tired of playing Chad and therefore doesn't bother much. But overall the show has it's funny moments, yet the 'cliched' Ryan Murphy ENDING ruins it all. You can't put so many elements into a show to get our attention and then try to end it all with a cheap way out. He does it in American Horror Story, he does it in Scream Queens. If this seasons finale gets a ridiculous ending, I will rather start watching all the episodes of Star Treck again.

This show is absolutely amazing. It has an amazing story line and is super funny and gory. The violence is portrayed to be in a funny way so it is gory but not that realistic. Chanel (The Main Mean Girl) is super funny and not such a good role model but most people find her funny. Season 2 has not started but judging from season 1 I think it will be much better. Somebody dies every episode so it is expected to be gory. This show is probably one of the funniest things i have ever seen. It is pretty mean girlish but in a funny way. Chanel non-stop cusses at the other girl but it is made to be funny not super mean.Ryan Murphy has created yet another amazing show and i am definitely looking forward to season 2 as i think it will be much funnier and a little more scandalous. I think this show is fine for 12+ as most 12 year olds know everything mentioned or referred to in this.

I've enjoyed watching season 1. Especially it's sense of humour and the attention to women's issues. But at times the probably intended shallow nature of the show gets old. Of course Jamie Lee Curtis is a pleasure to watch, but I wouldn't have expected anything less of her. She simply proves once again she's one of the best actresses of this time. I just want to add to other reviews that to me, the star of this show was Niecy Nash. I always believed her outlandish character and she was absolutely hilarious. She has a new fan! I'm delighted to hear she will be back in season 2.
