I feel the writers were striving for something like 'House of Cards,' and ended up with something like 'One Life to Live'. The story line suggests that everyone at the top, including the POTUS, only care about power, greed and lust, and have very little regard for actual real issues -- yes, everyone in Washington. Not creative at all, including the while B613 storyline. Hasn't this been done before, over and over and over again? Olivia Pope and the POTUS have an on and off affair for like 6 seasons. Seriously? Is this what the main story is really about? Ugh, who cares! And now in S7, in an effort to join the every other network's agenda for feminist PC, women are in charge of it all. Other than this idea is saturating Hollywood lately, I would normally be okay with it - but this is only too common with Shonda's other productions. I'm seriously feeling like it's more a personal agenda vs good story-telling. Unfortunately the writing of this particular scenario is not only a disappointment, but terribly unrealistic and deplorable. First of all, suggesting Kerry Washington's position would have this much power is beyond silly. Second, when the going gets tough, instead of women behaving like professionals, they just behave with pouts and ignorance. When they attempt at any diplomacy ... you know, the actual job -- they pretty much resort to blackmail and using their power in an abusive manner to get their way. What a disappointment. This is an insult to women, not something to be admired or applauded. Finally, all characters at some point talk in a monotone frenzy, kind of like someone who has had 20 cups of coffee. I believe this is to suggest these characters have an off-the-charts IQ. Its really nothing more than lazy writing. No matter how gifted someone might be at their job, most people don't talk like this. Its annoying.
... View MoreIn todays world with the amount of good quality TV-shows and movies to watch. this show is simply the quality of a 90's, early 00 show.the writing is not original, the cast is literally the same in all 7 seasons, with some exceptions, and the none-logical perception that this show has is mind blowing.the show is basically an overly dramatic love scandal that's being stretched for 7 season when it should have only been max 2 seasons.the show is enjoyable, but at the same time annoying!if you picked up this show in 2018 or later, i would much rather recommend titles such as " House of Cards" or "West Wing".
... View MoreI used to love this show, but Olivia Pope has become so insufferable, and Ms. Washington is flat without any dimension. I really am at a point of no longer watching, or hoping they'd off her. There is no depth tp her character any more, just a vile, hateful woman. Pls do better than this.
... View MoreI don't need to add anymore about the horrible writing , summed up by another reviewer who called the dialog "50 Chihuahuas going after one hot dog". This program is nothing more than a 30 minute 70's soap opera saturated with product placement. The premise that Olivia Pope is a power player is absurd. She is a compromised incompetent cluster*@ck that could not solve anything in real life. This may be the laziest writing and research for technical background I have ever seen on a major TV show. Their lack of knowledge and terminology how thing work in real life is either lazy or incompetent. From " two F-15's are waiting on the Carrier ready to take off" (try Wikipedia) to numerous medical, security and government protocols that could never occur in real life, only shows that this program only wants to be about comical love stories made for 16 year olds.Unbelievable on too many fronts for anyone to not just laugh.
