Based on the first season, I would have given it nine stars, but after seeing the (frustrating) direction the writers took during the second season, I dropped it to one! The first season was intriguing. You had sympathy for the characters and wanted answers.However, the second season became more of a soap opera and revealed virtually nothing. I wanted the episodes to head in the direction of why the dead returned but was greatly disappointed instead. After several episodes I lost interest.After it was cancelled, a fan wrote to the local TV critic inquiring about the ending, how the writers would have explained the dead returning. Well, it turns out that they never planned to reveal this, for they had no explanation!! Now, if you base an entire series on an incredible premise, you damn well better have an explanation! Not doing so is not only a disservice to the fans but is poor writing. That is THE reason for a one star rating.

The show is okay, if you don't mind watching a below regular series, the only thing that will make you watch all the episodes is because you just want to understand what is happening, since it's a really controversial and 'unique' subject.The characters, from where can I start, you will notice that the same characters are everywhere, you ask yourself what the hell is Bellamy doing there yet, why is he acting like if he's the Sherlock Holmes himself, or Maggie, why is she into everything that shouldn't even need her attention.The script was certainly poor written, it is terrible, like 'to be easy to understand'?, for people who does not take series seriously and just want a simple TV show around an interesting theme, I might say that the best performance out there is Frances Fisher's, playing Lucille - which is average.I'm not taking in account a comparison between this and Les Revenants, but if you want me to tell you, Les Revenants is far superior, with a better script, better acting and far superior atmosphere.

I know you need to suspend reality to make fiction work sometimes...aka just watch any James Bond film...but those are so over the top, you don't mind it. This show is trying to be so thought provoking and serious that it becomes insulting. Everyone is going on with their lives like this is normal. The kid comes back 30 years later and is thoroughly well adjusted to life in 2014...other kids shunning him on the soccer field, not because he's unpopular, but because he came back fro the dead!! Is that normal ??? and not one kid posted this on facebook ? In this hyper connected world, the media, feds, you name it would be on that town in a heart beat and that kid would be wisked to Area 51 and have a probe up his butt.What about the pastor's wife ??? After she hears that his x girlfriend has returned from the dead, she says "you know what you have to do" ....what ???? she returned from the dead ....not from a trip to Cancun. She didn't just troll for an ex on facebook, she killed herself 12 years in the past and is back...and everyone thinks it's normal ??Oh and the whole bank robber thing ???? Like ...oh, just find the money and the FBI will turn a blind eye ...what ???? really ? A dead guy comes back..kills someone while robbing a bank, and then disappears ?????In this age, we hear about it on the news if Kim Kardashian farts, and these people proceed business as usual ?? Not possible.I wanted this show to work...it had a little bit of a Twin Peeks vibe on the first episode, but it's credibility has slowly eroded to a laughable level.Also,..not as important, but can we find another set already ? The "courthouse square" set that has been in Back to the future, ghost whisperer, eastwick, desperate housewives, etc... is getting really old now...please find another filming location.
