As a child of the '80s I am always excited to see a show about that era, but if you are like me and you're looking for something authentic, don't bother with this one. However, if you don't care about such things or don't know anything about being a young person in the '80s, go ahead, you might like it. For me, as soon as I hear words that weren't even in our vernacular in the '80s, it's a huge turnoff. This was a very sad imitation of some of the best tv and movies from the era of my coming-of-age. I can only guess the writers are too young or too old and pretty clueless about what it was really like. Or perhaps they are just targeting today's young people. In that case, the show really doesn't need to be set in the '80s at all. Art really did reflect life at the time, and we had some of the best and raunchiest movies that probably couldn't even be made in this day and age. Please don't imitate unless you can be real!
... View MoreI started this with no expectations, actually all other Amazon Prime Video series did not get into me that much... OK, we are in the '80, so if you are born exactly in 1980 like me you are going to have a lot of revival moments, this is not sweating '80 like some other piece of TV streaming show (cough... stranger, cough... things, cough...), but there is a lot of quotes and reference everywhere. Then the whole plot is pivoting around niceness, and this is heart- warming, too many series are around just bad and evil characters, here you will find comfort after a hard work day. But the most important thing is: Time Travel. When I watch this show, time goes faster than ever! It is unbelievable how an episode slides smoothly to the end, while you think you are actually in the middle of it. This is actually the most sophisticated magic entertainment can do, and it must mean something if this happens.

It's a fantastic show with much effort to fulfill the audience needs while watching an 80's comedy that is PURPOSELY PREDICTABLE.
... View MorePerfect. Unlike many other comedy programs at the moment Red Oaks seems to always have a clear story line. This story line is filled with humour which is perfectly written and performed. I felt series 2 was not as good as series 1 but it had a lot to live up to. But saying that some of the humour in series 2 was superb. Such as series 2 episode 8 where Wheelers car door fails and Barry goes flying out. The story telling for that laugh was great with previous episodes showing Wheeler had a broken passenger door. Red Oaks is amazing, the casting is superb with Craig Roberts as David. But what's great about Red Oaks is I can't find anything else like it which is difficult to find right now as there are a lot of comedies that are very similar and are just being made for the sake of it. I would recommend Red Oaks to anyone it is one of my favourite shows at the moment.
