Ranma 1/2 is possibly the best anime ever. (In my opinion) Witty humor, intense but exciting and entertaining fighting, and rare romantic moments that make you scream for more, this is a gem. Also for anime fangirls, there are many possibilities for couples (Poor Ranma... so many fiancés!) The humor is hilarious, the fights are awesome and the villains are devious and pretty frustrating. The only bad things in this show are: The frequent partial-nudity (Usually it's only breasts) and the slightly outdated animation. Otherwise, it's perfect! I'd recommend this to anyone who doesn't mind nudity and likes a good laugh. This is Rumiko's finest.

Ranma and his father Genma were in China practicing Kung Fu fights over forbidden lakes. But they fell into those magic lakes and soon found out that, as a consequence, they were "cursed"; in touch with cold water Ranma would transform into a girl and Genma into a Panda. Only hot water could turn them back again. Back in Tokyo Mr. Tendo agreed with Genma to arrange a marriage with his daughter Akane and Ranma. But since Akane is the most popular girl among boys in school and Ranma always argues with her, their relationship is very problematic...Having read so many positive comments about this anime ( like "Instant classic! A masterpiece!" )I was looking forward seeing it. I expected a genius comedy like "Tootsie", but got only a mild and tired anime. Now, I wont be naive and write something like "Worst anime ever!", but the fact remains that "Ranma 1/2" is only a good TV show that never made me laugh. Actually, it has more fights than humor. Too much excessive fights, about boys who battle each other to get a girl, Akane. Is this suppose to be a romantic comedy or "Dragonball"? ---------------Truth be told, some ideas were very nice. For example, when Ranma is dreaming that he/she has become gay or when his/her father Genmo is reminding him that he is his son, and not his daughter. Or when Ranma says that he is going to marry himself. But at the same time I always expected something more. Since Ranma is a boy he should have used his ability to be a girl to influence other boys better. The biggest problem is an explosion of useless characters. I don't know what the purpose was to have other people that can transform too, especially when they transform to such stupid forms like a Panda, a pig, a cat or a duck. And that perverted old man that was always molesting girls and stealing their bra's was one of the most annoying anime characters ever. Ranma would always beat him up, and yet he would always appear in the next episode. Strange thing is that the author is a woman, Rumiko Takahashi. I mean no disrespect to her since she invented one of mine favorite animes ( shining "Inuyasha" )but her work here is just a good fantasy with some nice ideas. "Maison Ikkoku" is so much better and skilfuller!Grade: 6/10

What more can I say? This show is the best anime show I've seen and is perhaps the first one to get me into that genre among others. I first laughed at the title, because it sounded ridiculous, and I was new to this, and I was just a kid. And as I watched, I laughed even more, to learn this is worthwhile and a great show, a great love comedy or martial arts show. With references to ancient China and traditions, except turned upside down to bring hilarious and chaotic results! And the character are unforgettable, Kuno Tatewake, Ryoga who is stupid but my favorite character of the show! Mousse, Cologne, Happosai, Akane and Genma, and not to mention Ranma's other suitors, Shampoo, Kodachi, Ukyo, this came before Tenchi Muyo! to those who say harem anime was copied from Tenchi! Without a doubt, this is a very funny and memorable show brought to you by Rumiko Takahashi who also made Inu Yasha, Maison Ikkoku, Urusei Yatsura and Fire Tripper. Great show, recommended to all fans of the shows mentioned earlier. >>>>> 10/10

I'm a progressive Anime fan. I started out on Sailor Moon, and then went on to Dragonball Z. Then I stepped up to Animes with original plots, like Tenchi Muyo. Last year, a friend got me into Ranma 1/2. And I still owe him for that. Recently, I made a top five Anime list. Ranma was at the top. Why? The amazing cast. From the money-grubbing cynical Nabiki to the arrogant poetry-spouting Kuno, to the Cute-Klepto Azusa Shiratori, Rumiko Takahashi has created characters that have a lot of chemistry. And, if you notice, there are little similarities/differences in certain characters. Firstly, most of them are very stubborn, which seems to be a common trait among creations of Rumiko. Also, take a note of this.... (POSSIBLE SPOILER AHEAD.)Have you noticed that while Akane's cooking skills are horrible, Ranma's other suitors are excellent chefs? Kodachi, despite her tendencies to use paralysis and sleeping powder, is a great chef. Xian Pu (Shampoo) is mostly a delivery girl, but she has to have a bit of experience, and Ukyo is an okonomiyaki chef. That says it all. (END SPOILER)If you're looking for a good anime with laughs, action, and a little bit of romance on the side, go to Ranma 1/2. You won't be disappointed.
