I'm so glad I bought this series. I've seen the first two episodes and I am looking forward to more. If you like possession movies then you'll love this. The southern USA atmosphere and the fact that possession has some basis in fact (whether you believe it or not, I'm more likely to believe this than vampires or zombies) both contribute to make a very adult examination of the theme. South of Hell is the other series that deals with this theme, and it is true I've only seen some of the first episode of that show, but what I saw goes a bit beyond what I'm prepared to believe, and was a little predictable, aimed at a younger audience, and, for me, and wasn't working for these reasons. Both series however need to be congratulated for making the bridge between a relatively well-known theme in movies, and a less tested theme for a television series. Horror for television is maturing, the running being made by such shows as Hannibal, Salem and American Horror Story. Outcast seems more subdued, more real, but is all the more creepy for it.

... View MoreA Horror/ Thriller should have a fast moving plot and story. Every episode should have something that makes you jump up from your seat. This show is too slow for my liking. There were many episodes where nothing happens for long periods of time and the characters keep having conversations. The Build up never ends and the jump scare after the build up is too abrupt and shown as a flashback. All in all a very good concept but not executed well
... View MoreI'm a huge horror fan, so I was really looking forward to seeing this, and it definitely didn't disappoint. The story moves at a good pace and quickly pulls you in as you start to learn about the characters, who are really well played. There's just the right amount of vagueness to build up the suspense and mystery without being confusing. Overall I really love the show so far, there are some really creepy moments which is pretty rare in the horror TV genre, and to me this show really stands out as unique, original, and interesting. In a lot of horror movies/shows the characters are cheesy and very underdeveloped but that isn't the case with Outcast. I quickly started to develop feelings for them, like Kyles adopted sister who seems really sweet and caring but also good at dishing out tough love when it's needed, with just the right amount of quirkiness. Her husband on the other hand, seems kind of selfish and a bit cold with his attitude towards her brother, but he doesn't really seem like a jerk so I don't really know which direction it will go with him as I continue to watch.I'm only 2 episodes in so far, so I'm sure there will be even more to love about this show before I make it through the season, but I can already tell it is going to be one of my favorites, such as AHS and Salem. It's got plenty of weird, creepy moments, without being too dark the way American Horror Story can sometimes be (although for me, I don't think there's such thing as 'too dark', but I know for some, it's tends to go to far sometimes..) so I feel like most people will like it.
