Essie is such a delight. She's a Thoroughly Modern Millie in the flesh. Being a Yank, the setting is great because it's 'new". My wife and I really enjoy the characters and the plots. The whole thing is just good fun to watch. If you like detective dramas but are a tad burned out on the usual fare then by all means give this a try!
... View MoreI am a fan of mysteries, Sherlock Holmes, Miss Marple, Hercule Poirot and of course Jessica Fletcher on Murder, she wrote are my favourites. Miss Fletcher Murder Mysteries is a "old recipe" with good stories and finally a police officer that is not a complete zero, he actually helps a lot!! The idea is good and on the 20's-30's is refreshing! My compliments to the cast, very well chosen, great actors. And finally something outside Hollywood with a great quality! Keep up the good work!
... View MoreThis show is absolutely perfect in every way! The characters, casting, acting, dialogues, locations, content, costumes, chemistry, plot and everything is very well balanced and presented spectacularly. Essie Davis as Phryne Fisher is truly mesmerizing while Nathan Page as the Detective Inspector brings to life a very special pairing in Phryne and Jack. The chemistry is explosively subtle! I have watched all the Sherlock Holmes, Poirot, Miss Marple etc series and stumbled into this accidentally on Netflix recently and I must say it changed my perception in Australian productions entirely. Very unexpectedly impressive! The best i've seen so far in this genre. I find it unbelievable and so disappointing the entire series was stopped abruptly (season 3 only having 8 episodes). What a shame this series wasn't continued, however i am eagerly waiting for the movie trilogy expected in 2018.
... View MoreRecently found this show on Netflix and it has made me a total addict. The cast, costumes and the period settings are superb. I also love the variety of settings in each story line - from circuses to factories to beaches. As for Ms Fisher and the Inspector - well I can't wait for their scenes together, and for their story line to develop. Above all else the show stands out for making ms fisher a truly liberated woman of her times, without compromising on her feminine charms. Essie Davis and the restrained acting from the Inspector are priceless. I am still in season one and am rationing how much I see each week as I don't want it to end. This show is Great help in my withdrawal symptoms from Downtown Abbey!
