I always assumed Marvel was silly super hero movies and comics for men that struggle with women.Either I'm right and this is an exception or I'm right and this is an exception.Excellent story, very good cast and unexpected twists.
... View MoreAs a fan of the punisher since I was a kid didn't know what to expect. This series is brutal and violent and everything that you should expect with the character. Bit slow at the beginning but once it gets going it really gets going. Top stuff.
... View MoreI might have read some of the comic books as a kid, but I don't recall anything from them. However, I watched the previous movies that were release, which were of a mixed blessing. So I didn't really have any high hopes for this vigilante turned into a series. But it would turn out that I was in for quite a treat! This is definitely one of the best Marvel titles around. Why? Well, because I don't like superheroes all that much, but Frank Castle is not a superhero, and there is just something dark and wonderfully violent about this character and the things happening around him.Jon Bernthal was really fitting quite wonderfully in this role and turned out to be a great casting choice. The series has lots of good characters and great that is helped along by some great acting performances all around. And Ben Barnes was also quite a good choice of the casting, because he was so suited for the role of Billy Russo. The story was good, although it felt like it shouldn't have been necessary to have used 16 episodes to tell it. But still, very good entertainment nonetheless.
... View MoreTo be blunt, the best thing about The Punisher is that it's different from all the other Marvel series. There are no funny bits like in Iron Man, there is no spectecular Disney-type of environment to watch. The Punisher is raw and real. With a great background story about PTSD and an amazing performance putting down some believable worn-out soldiers from multiple actors, The Punisher is about coping with things you have no way of coping with. From episode one and beyond, it's made clear that the main character Frank Castle's punishing doesn't only reflect him going after others, but also him punishing himself. It's with great cinematic story quality that the viewer is shown the struggles going on inside his head. When there is no background story to be seen, there's another part that's unusual for most of the Marvel series. Brutal. Bloody. Violence. It's such a relief to finally see something different from the boring Iron Fist series, or every hero that has a Batman moral of not killing anybody. Here, you will see blood, gore, anger and relief. All mixed together into a beautiful first season.
