I guess this is an okay watch for your 6-9 year old for a half hour. I mean there isn't anything that I'd consider horrible in this show for them, it's just that for anyone outside that demographic or people who cling onto their childhood nostalgia then this show isn't all that great. The premise for this show is to take the Robin Hood myth and turn it upside down. Maid Marion is now the hero of Sherwood Forest and Robin is so cowardly Scooby Doo would call him a wimp. Then the merry men are also changed around a bit such as Little John actually being little and other such things. So the shows premise... I have to be honest is actually pretty good. It's just the execution is bizarre. Some episodes open with (and I swear to god I am not kidding) a rap number and...they're as bad as you might think. For a fact there are a lot of jokes in this show that are like that, they do something that won't be invented for nearly a millennium. Not to mention the corniness. I know it's a kids show and there is meant to be some level of corniness but the corniness in this show makes The Marvel Superheroes cartoon that ran in the 60's look like the current movies being made today. So the only real appeal for this show for those that didn't grow up with it is seeing what Tony Robinson and Danny John Jules did outside of Blackadder and Red Dwarf. So unless you are one of those people or the people who grew up with this show I can't really see that much appeal. I like the idea but it could have been executed a lot better.
... View MoreThis was my fave programme when I was little (well littler, Im 19 now but was about 7 or 8 when it was first on). It still appeals to me now although I missed many of the recent repeats due to college (blub). I am just hoping that CBBCs new channel shows repeats of it. It was recently voted number 21 in the top 100 kids tv list, I thought I was the only one who really loved this ace show thank god I was wrong. Also Wayne Moris deserves much more succes than he has got, he was gorge as Robin (he was my first crush) and I think I recently spooted him in a sweet ad poor luv!
... View MoreThe series was brilliant even in German - as, luckily, they didn't dub the songs. The humour was just funny, as me and all my friends thought - and even my younger brothers loved it! Besides, the series provides explanations for the big questions of mankind - like the invention of snooker... My favourite Robin Hood pictures!
