John is a comedic genius. I wish the show came on more often or was an hour long. Absolutely brilliant!

Oliver will make some good points from time to time, and when the show first started he spoke about injustice and the like and I found him entertaining. After 4 shows I was done!! I'm tired of the typical cliche' "trash the president" rhetoric. I find it extra insulting to have to listen to a Brit or anyone not from this country thrashing our president and our government. I just want him to GO HOME at that point. And it seemed he opened EVERY show like that, or made it his main theme. I say, go back to Great Britain and trash your own country.

More appreciation is owed to Last Week Tonight than you think, and it is more necessary than other current shows you might compare it to. If you have not yet listened intently to Oliver's monologues, you cannot have an valid prejudice against it or assume the show merely tries to push the typical liberal agenda. Unlike the Daily Show with Trevor Noah, Colbert's show, and Seth Meyer's show, Last Week Tonight does not rely on the existence of Donald Trump to make comedic profit. We know this because before Trump even ran for President, Last Week Tonight reached prominence by repeatedly causing an actual effect on subjects it covered: Net Neutrality and the FCC, the woes of FIFA, Miss America Pageant, Bail requirements in New York, and Civil Forfeiture laws. No other comedian's show can boast this, to put very simply. If the show were not selfless, it would deserve the slogan "Make America Sane Again" a hundred times more than Real Time with Bill Maher.

I almost never write reviews. However, I feel compelled to inform people who haven't seen the show to know what they have missed. He covers every topic you never think to imagine and he does it with such wit and grace that you wish he was American so he could run for president. Honestly, I've never been able to disagree with anything or any view that he has shared. He is the most honest person on television and the country would be a better place if everyone watched his show.Even if you don't share his political views, his topics cover moral dilemmas facing our country today. If you are super conservative socially, you may not like him. However, if that is the case, you should at least hear what he has to say before disagreeing. If this show is ever canceled I will take a s**t on Richard Plepler's car every day.
