The two protagonists, Roman and Peter, are outcasts in their own rights. Peter is a gypsy and Roman is hated by almost everybody in the town because of his family name. So they naturally gravitate towards each other. Both have their secrets and continuously explore each other's boundaries throughout the first season. In season 2 their friendship is tested in many ways. It's all about their trials and tribulations. New dangers arise and the lines between between friends and foes are starting to blur. A certain sense of uncertainty is cast over the entirety of season 2.Season 3 focuses heavily on the importance of family and less so about the friendship of the protagonists. The whole "ghost seeing" theme that was explored during the end of the season seemed rather silly to me. I did not appreciate it in the slightest. What I found somewhat ironic however was the fact that Dr. Pryce and Shelley were far more interesting and complex characters than the two actual protagonists. So much so that I stopped caring about Roman and Peter halfway along the second season.Final Verdict: if you like TV shows about supernatural creatures you should give it a try. It's quite decent. Definitely had its moments.

When I started this show, one word came to mind: Bizarre. But I had to keep going. The acting is phenomenal, especially Bill and Famke. There characters were so broken inside and complex. I also love the friendship between Roman and Peter. I don't know why some people were hating on this show and comparing it to vampire diaries or true blood. Hemlock Grove was it's own show! The special effects could've used some work but it didn't bother me other than that. For the people that say this show is sexist and demeaning to women... they don't know the full story! I say give it a chance because it is well worth it. However, I didn't like the finale and think it could've ended differently.. especially for Roman.. he was one of my favorites. Some scenes are slightly disturbing and make you wonder if you should turn away.. but you can't!! I give it a 9/10

Season one laid the foundation for what could have been an amazing series. The two main characters coming together to discover themselves and solve a murder and become close as brothers What I loved about the series. The characters Roman and Peter had chemistry.. And who doesn't love a werewolf/vampire story. The werewolf transformation in season 1 was the best I've seen!!. What I found annoying... Season 2 and 3 they recast the actress who played Shelley who was supposed to be 7 feet tall. Her proportions were off in every scene it hurt my brain. Also way too much Olivia and Pryce. Their story lines went in weird directions and was completely unnessisary. And last but not least... The flying manta ray thing. Horrible Cg.

Bill Skarsgård was great in his role but writers destroyed his character in season 3. Same with Landon Liboiron's Peter. Famke was great as Olivia but even she was stuck in a character going nowhere except utopia. In these type of series many people tend to die but does everybody have to die for writers being able to end a series? What is so difficult in writing an end that is happy and sticks with the theme of that particular series. Does rich always have to find happiness in being poor and cant a bad boy vampire find a nice woman for happily ever after? Why cant Eric Northmans of this world have their Sookies and HEA? Why do writers always feel the need to ruin the series for fans? This was excellent series with some serious bad judgment even in season 1 what comes to writers & directors especially in dream shoots. Those bad ideas kept piling and the end ruined this series for me. You cant just put people in series and make characters fall head over heel in love with them and then just pluck them out like trash w no further mention. Especially when they are involved with main characters and not just the love of life of some janitor.
