At the beginning almost I refused because is a little bit truculent, but I continued watching because the photography, the characters and the style of director promised a great and rare movie. And it is! Scott Frank guionist and director a creator of an excellent new style. Actors very good, superlative the main ones in the characters of Griffin and Roy Goode. Movie has some fantasy licenses but, by case, western spaghetti had some others different and marked a genre inside the genre as Godless do. Is a new western cinema language that say very well what it want to say on each situation. I understood and indulged the truculence in this movie as a neccesity to show the reality of some crude facts. Script on this movie contains almost the sum of all the events the classic western movies have and added its own brilliant touch. Don't lose to watch it.

I read somewhere that that this was supposed to be a movie but they turned it into a miniseries. It doesn't work. There are a lot of subplots that are honestly pointless. Also I'm seriously sick of close ups and too much action in movies now a days. This movie is definitely no leone or john ford or hell even peckinpah. Those movies and if this includes the Unforgiven, Open Range and the propistion... Then I'd rank this higher. Great cast, but too long and definitely holes in the character development outside of the main characters. Worth the watch if you are really bored.

Stumbled on this Netflix series by accident. Was looking for something else, but got totally hooked on Godless from the start. One of the BEST series Netflix has produced. Great actors/actresses, storyline, cinematography and settings. I am currently on episode 5 of 7 and wishing it would not end. One of those series you wish had 85+ episodes....it's that good. Not sure how it will end, as not reading any of the spoilers. Great job Netflix! Keep more like this coming.

What's in a title? I'm not a religious person, but very early on I thought, oh, no "God" of any kind in this flick! I get why they called it Godless. There is not one frame, one moment, one anything that isn't "sweet jesus, what a god forsaken lot". I suspect in the real west there was maybe one joke told, a moment of joy, a chuckle, some love....once or even twice. Not in this show. It's a great cast. Really well acted. Well shot. It's very well done. So I gave it 8 stars, As it's really just my personal preference that fiction borrows from the tone of real life, which will always be varied. Nothing, even on my beloved father's death bed, was all this bleak. But it's totally fair that the creators wanted to paint only the (very) dark side - hence, "God-less". totally fair. And well executed. I appreciated how Deadwood painted with a broader palette. (my fav show) But why remake Deadwood they may have thought? Rightly so, and Fair enough. If you like witnessing existences that were only unrelentingly harsh this show is for you and apparently the point.
