I think it's useful to compare Get Shorty with another current series, Animal Kingdom. All of the things wrong with Animal Kingdom (AK) they get right on Get Shorty (GS). The first problem with AK is casting. The cast is a nightmare of extremely bad choices whereas GS gets everyone just right. What truly sets GS apart from most of the bad stuff on TV is that they get all of the peripheral characters right, as well as the protagonists. Every single character in the show is fun to watch, from Miles's sidekick, Lulu, to Amara's half-witted and nihilistically violent nephew, Yago.Almost every character is a scene stealer. Ray Romano almost walks away with the whole series, except he has a lot of competition. I think that the story line in each of these two series is about the same quality, the thing that separates AK and GS (besides the casting) is the humor thrown in at necessary intervals in GS. I like every single character on the show, even the ones I hate. Take Amara's accountant as an example. He is on screen for a couple of minutes, tops, yet he establishing a very solid presence. This comes down to great casting, good acting, and decent writing.

Get Shorty is the bomb! It´s iconic and and instant-classic. All the acting is terrific, but Miles and Lou-Lou are award worthy and a thing to remember. I laughed so hard at times. Can´t wait for season 2.

Huge fan of the movie and love the reboot of the idea for the show. When I heard Chris O'Dowd was the main guy I already knew it would be great. I can't think of a better guy for this role... and the rest of the cast is great. Ray Romano is perfect.I was so happy to hear this got a second season.. hopefully has many more!

This might have been the most enjoyable television so far seen in 2017.I really enjoyed Master of None, but this Chris O'Dowd actor made me want to see this series. Now, the SO and I watched -- not easy as it's only on epics --- every episode. Really, really looking forward to the next. And the next. And so on and so forth. You may begin to watch the series for Chris O'Dowd but you stay to watch Sean Bridgers. They both, and I mean both, are smartly and deftly played. I cannot tell if it's the direction, the actor, happenstance or all three, but it's worth every minute. Of course Lidia Porto has a role that no one will ever forget, either. Its a total of 10 episodes and you definitely want to begin with episode one. I let the SO begin somewhere afterwards and it only made us need to begin with episode one. So, if you tried to watch this in any other order than by one first, go back and watch one. You have to.That being said the charm rarely lets up and it's like a 10. Until...until...episode 10. Where it kinds of messes the bed. Not a bad mess mind you, just some duty where clean sheets ought to be. Maybe they think they are going to return for season 2? Maybe they ran out of ideas? In any event the finale is OK, just, not perfect.Perhaps when season II rolls out, we'll get that fixed. Enjoy
