Gargoyles is a very good show. but its not for little kids. it has some adult jokes. like a gargoyle says hes kinky. and another gargoyle says wanna make sparks fly. and it has swearing like hell. and its very vilonte a gargoyles palms start to bleed. a gargoyle shoots a girl with a gun and shes seen laying in a pool of her own blood. all the gargoyles die in one episode Broadway gets shot. and blue stone bronx angela and brooklyn get burnt to ash on screen. and the main villain kills his son. with that being said i think Gargoyles is not for little kids and is for preteens and teens. and is a very good show for teens and adults.
... View MoreI cannot begin to detail how phenomenal this show is. I have seen plenty of exceptional animated shows, and some of them are very underrated, but Gargoyles has it all, mystery, complexity, depth, adventure and suspense, and one of those rarities where there is not a bad episode. The animation is superb, very dark, moody and stylish. In fact, there are several animated sequences in Gargoyles that have a cinematic feel to it. The backgrounds especially are a wonder, and I loved the creative yet bold and dark use of colours. The music is outstanding, it is dark, atmospheric and mysterious constantly and adds to the mature tone of the show.Another strong asset is the show's writing. No clichés, no wishy-washy moments. This writing can have a subtle humour to it, yet is also very intelligent, bold and thought-provoking. Then there are the story lines. They are filled with mystery and adventure, and I was really surprised at how incredibly deep Gargoyles was. I have seen some deep and complex animated shows, namely Peter Pan and the Pirates, to some extent ThunderCats and especially Batman:The Animated Series, and Gargoyles is just as deep as those. And the characters are wonderful, so unique and likable, while the voice work is top-notch from all involved especially from Keith David who is note-perfect in the title role of Goliath.Overall, if you haven't seen Gargoyles, I suggest you do. 10/10 Bethany Cox
... View MoreOh, to have the Gargoyles back. One of the best animated series ever. Good for the kid in me: the fact that they're gargoyles and can fly (most of them) and generally kick butt. Good for the adult in me: there's actually a plot, and a really good one. The characters are not nauseating like the Power Rangers who defeated them. Except for the fact that the gargoyles are animated supernatural beings, they felt like real people. The show wasn't dumbed down for kids (ahem, Power Rangers and most Saturday morning cartoons since then), nor was it so adult that it was boring (i.e., the non-cartoon channels on Saturday mornings). Gargoyles was (still is, in my opinion) an excellent masterpiece of animated entertainment--scratch that--of entertainment period.
... View MoreGargoyles, I think is another clever cartoon action series! Gargoyles is a series about these creatures that existed as stone in the day, but become flesh and blood at night. One Scottish clan made an alliance with humans to help protect a castle by night if the humans would protect their stone forms by day. The uneasy alliance was shattered when human prejudice provoked a betrayal that allowed the castle to be sacked and most of the resident clan destroyed, leaving only six adult survivors and a rookery of unhatched eggs. A further misunderstanding during the Clan's retaliation on the invaders and rescue of their hostages left the clan frozen in stone by a magic spell that would only be broken when the "Castle rises above the Clouds." For a thousand years, the castle laid abandoned and the clan condemned by this curse. In 1994, a wealthy multi-billionaire named David Xanatos, bought the castle and transported the whole structure to Manhattan where he placed it on top of the Eyrie building which he owned. It is high enough to be above the clouds, thus the conditions of the spell were met and the Gargoyles were revived. Now, this clan must adjust to this new age and gain friends like Detective Elisa Masa who reveals that Xantoses revived them to exploit them for his unscrupulous ends. This show premiered on the Disney Afternoon for the first 2 seasons and then it was put on ABC Saturday Mornings for the 3rd season and the 3rd season was broadcast under a new name called Gargoyles: The Goliath Chronicles.SPOILER WARNING: Unlike her fellow Gargoyles, who turn to stone at dawn, the evil Demona changes instead into a human. Season two's on-going storyline came to a climax in a compelling three-part episode leaving the Gargoyles poised on the brink of new dangers. The three-part finale concluded the story of a medieval youth who, after being attacked by Demona, swore he would destroy the Gargoyle villainess -- and all of her kind. Demona eluded him, but his descendents have vowed to carry out his vendetta. Jason, Jon and Robyn Canmore, known as the Hunters, trace her to Manhattan, and discover that she isn't the only gargoyle still alive. They learn of Goliath and his existence, and will stop at nothing to destroy them! Now I'm glad they show reruns of this show on Toon Disney and Jetix on ABC Family!User Rating: 9/10BOTTOM LINE: A CLEVER ACTION SERIES!
