Positive: A few of the crimes and subsequent misleads and then problem solving were a bit unique and thoughtful. Negatives: 1. Many of the crimes and misdirects are redundant, seen before, misleads w/final denouement quick and often anti-climatic. 2. Dialogue is often artificially abrasive w/a lot of "put-on airs" self indulgence. 3. Basic non-crime portion of the scripts are typical love life, social & personal dramas. Seen before! 4. Now for the worst: The detectives' first handling of crime scene items in bare hands and placing important evidence into a handkerchief or pocket has been a no-no since the late '20s in detective forensics at which point a murder kit of rubber gloves, plastic sterile evidence bags, etc. was first introduced.
... View MoreExcellent in most ways. The characters have depth. You get to see why Morse was Morse. That was missing in the Thaw series. Excellent characters developed by Lesser,Allam , Strange,? and DeBryn. The settings are period and you are not limited to Oxford crime. That facet of Morse was limiting and unrealistic. My only gripe with this is the plots can be too complicated. Even when Morse explains them you dont think they are feasible, possible, or likely. They strain to wrap things up. Most of the scripts are good ones. Much better than the old series.

Season 5 episode 3 - PassengerSeries 5 is actually known to take place in 1968 - in fact, the radio announcer clearly said that Robert Kennedy had been shot, which took place in June 1968. Now, the whole 'blue coloured diesel engines' business - whether that's wrong, I have no idea!I'm enjoying this season quite a lot - Shaun Evans really works as young Morse.
... View MoreI found this show totally by accident - I was looking for something new to watch, and this handsome young man cought my eye :) Shows description was nice too,, so I decided to give it a try. And I completelly fell in love with it from the very begining. What facinates me most - it is obvious how much mork it is put into this show - it is not just another dull detective show, no - the story line is always complex, intriguent, it keeps you on your toes, and make you to twist your mind aswell.
