I really enjoyed season 1 but it is such a shame that the show will not continue... In my opinion it could have been a huge success among fans of fantasy fiction, maybe the producers did not advertise it enough?

Dorothy (Adria Aroja) and Vincent Di'Onofrio as the Wizard are terribly miscast. So badly miscast they ruin a potentially good series. Dorothy isn't remotely likable, frankly is she died or were killed by the bad witch I'd understand or maybe even encourage. Di'Onofrio is so wooden and without gravitas or nuance as an actor in this role that you'd think he was the lead in a small-town rendition of Wizard of Oz rather than a major actor. That's too bad, because the set and some of the supporting cast is pretty good.

LOVED-LOVED this show. Based not-at-all on the 1930's musical, and is a fresh new take on the original 1900's book series. Gorgeous set design, very artistic clothing, surreal-art-photo-type arrangements of the cinematography, landscapes, buildings reminiscent of "The Cell" also with Vincent D'Onofrio. NOT TO MENTION the absolute gorgeous men in the show, and also the very strong wonderful characters of the women in the show. Very good writing with some real thinking going into the characters and plot. Beautiful photography! Look for stunning shots of Ugandan-German actress Florence Kasumba/"Witch of the East", with an amazing red silk dress like tentacles flying around. Or Mido Hamada, another stunning Egyptian actor portraying the Lion, who needs his chance to find his courage. Or Oliver Jackson-Cohen, (gorgeous!!) portraying a soldier with memory loss and/or PTSD, who needs his chance to recover his "brain". And Dorothy, where exactly WILL home be for her? And WHO is Dorothy?I'm absolutely heartbroken that there is not more coming.

The only reason this is even linked with "The Wizard of Oz" is to drag in suckers for nostalgia and emo kids who love 'dark' takes on everything. This has so little to do with Oz that if Baum were still alive he'd sue for the bastardization of his beloved world.Everyone is horrible in some way. It's as if this is a world composed of only the worst people possible. I fully agree with others who find this repugnant: I would gladly nuke them all just to erase them from existence, as they have no reason to exist other than to be miserable to everyone around them. This is a world of Oz as written by a manic depressive drug addict.
