The whole show was clever, fun, witty and unique...until the last episode! Which fell totally flat and seemed completely out of character with the whole series that had been well executed and consistently funny. (I seriously wouldn't even bother watching it. Enjoy the first five episodes and skip the last!) It was so horribly written in terms of plot and then executed in a way that was so pathetically hokie it wasn't befitting of the amount of time and effort that went into the rest of this production. (Spoiler alert:) In the big reveal can anyone even tell me what the heck was going on? Was the entire purpose to create a soundstage and prance around like Miami Vice? It. Was. Dumb. I doubt we'll see another season of Comrade Detective.

To those who seem to be confused and think this was an ACTUAL show from 1983, there is NO way it can be since one of the main characters wasn't even born until 1987!! As for the show being funny, it just isn't!! I tried to get thru the first episode, but I couldn't even do that! Things are so disjointed, the dub-over makes it annoying to watch, the plot line is barely discernible, and I'm sad that these good actors have lent their voices to something that is just so beneath their talent. The ONLY reason I gave it a try was because of the big names and because I am desperately trying to find things to watch that are ACTUALLY funny, not the $&@* that passes for humour these days, and this is just another one of those things that some deluded people thought was funny but they were horribly wrong! Don't waste your time please and someone out there PLEASE, PRETTY PLEASE, make some shows and movies that are actually funny without subscribing to the disgusting and gratuitous swearing that passes for entertainment these days!!

I watched this series with quite the open mind, for a good ol' time. I must admit, it was horrible. It quite frankly, was too overt in terms of propaganda; 1. Religious dude being like a crazed Maoist. 2. American women being superficial and loving the scent of money. 3. Detectives proclaiming "What more do you want? You have food, education and housing given to you. . Et Al; State Run Propaganda that is pushing a liberal agenda. It is absolutely vomit inducing. Who would want government rationing everything and pulling the strings on your day to day life? Whomever rated this 10/10 must love being Cuckoled. Seriously people, step back and think about it. Think about that poor soul in a bondage suit, strapped to a chair with his eyes forced open to watch said drivel, at the end of it...said person is a mere meat-suit who wants Master Marx to go "There, there my little Marxist soldier. Daddy government will coddle you with the means of production, under a falsehood of choice and freedom...because you have neither nor will ever know what to do with either."

I think it's a terrible shame that what looks to be an exciting and engaging series has been dubbed vs. showing this in it's original language with subtitles. I wish it was at least available to watch in Romanian with subtitles but instead one is supposed to suffer through the dubbing - it's almost painful to listen to.Hopefully they will see sense and release the original as it was intended vs. this monstrosity. The official Amazon description is so terrible: "digitally remastered and dubbed the original into English for the modern world." For the modern world? Seriously? Like Romanian is somehow not 'modern' and needs fixing? Insulting and pathetic, especially as the very people who are drawn to a show like this are the people who thrive on foreign drama/cinema; part of the purpose of watching this stuff is escapism and the foreign language is part of that escapism. 'Fixing" it to English is in such poor taste and fundamentally destroys the show's authenticity. I hope this errant and wayward decision to dub isn't a sign of things to come from Amazon.
