I saw Boone when it aired and loved it. The cast worked well together and the Rockabilly & Country music was top rate. That was extremely good for its time. The best reason for this was it was about 6 years since Elvis Presley had died and the public was still eating up anything Elvis or like Elvis. The producers had to make the music real good, and they did. I wish I could find someone who has these shows taped. I had them all taped, including the commercials. One episode had a Leggs commercial with Roy Orbison! Anyway a flood did me in and I lost my collection. Is there anyone out there that has this show on tape?? It would make a great show for reruns! It is not dated and would work well. Hey TV Land! Get your hands on Boone! Its great FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT!
... View MoreI remember this TV series and also felt that it was a promising show. I think if it aired today, it would become a success. The problem was, in 1983, Country Music wasn't popular as it is today in 2004. Actually, had this show aired around 1987, when Country Music was brought back onto the map by Randy Travis, without the assistance of a movie, Boone would have been another "Friends". The story line depicted what the reality is when someone wants to embark into the music business as a career. The reality is that Boone's dad wasn't fond of him wanting to sing as he kept telling Boone, "It's OK as a hobby" but he wanted his son to get a real job. How many times do we get that from our family and friends, when we have dreams? Then the reality is when one attempts to get into the business and find that they need to work part-time just to earn enough money during the day to pay the rent and eat, and then work at night to gain attention? What I always wanted to know was what happened to Boone? I recall that his sister narrated the story and there was a hint that Boone eventually made it as a recording artist. Since the show went off the year a year later, we never found out. I think the networks might want to try this show again and treat it like a reality show this time. The concept will work.
... View MoreBoone was much too short-lived. It was an excellent and promising show with a wonderful star. I enjoyed the relationship between the father and the son, even though they didn't agree about Boone's future. I got the impression that Boone could have given Elvis a run for his money if the show had lasted long enough. Boone was a responsible young man who had a quiet passion for his music. He had the highest respect for his father and for the rest of his family. He worked, and planned for his dream. I would love to know what ever happened to Thomas Byrd, who had the lead in this show. He had so much potential, and I thought I was seeing the beginning of a promising career.
