Blood Ties is a relatively entertaining series with a storyline that could only have come from the writers at Lifetime. The series begins on a promising note with a gorgeous male vampire and a beautiful private investigator. And since this is Lifetime, there is a love triangle. This investigator must choose between the beautiful and mysterious vampire and her police officer ex-boyfriend and partner. However, the writers at Lifetime decided to throw in a number of random facts about these characters that are completely irrelevant and only serve to make the script more complicated (but not necessarily more interesting). For instance, our beautiful vampire also writes comic books and our private investigator is slowly going blind. This show was interesting and at times fun, but also frustrating. The end of the second and final season was extremely disappointing. The series leaves off on a depressing episode that gives the viewer no resolution to any of the central issues in the storyline. This show's saving grace? Kyle Schmid (Henry Fitzroy) is gorgeous.
... View MoreI just had the chance to watch the complete series over the last few weeks and I really enjoyed the show. It's not as graphic (by miles) as True Blood or other shows, but it does have a nice little triangle, with the female lead and two male characters, who can't escape her. Since Christina Cox is playing that female character that is more than believable of course. The actors are good, the dialog is fast and funny, the overall mood is definitely light. That's either a good or a bad thing, depending on your own views and tastes (no pun intended). Unfortunately for the show and although there are quite a few books/novels out there, the show got canceled. It did get good reviews when it ran, but the numbers (viewings) didn't match them. But that doesn't mean you won't enjoy this
... View MoreI will admit I was excited when I heard there was a show of Tanya Huffs amazing book series. The show was sadly disappointing. The acting is good, but I could never get past the fact that Tony Foster (who later has a series of his own) was completely removed from the story. They could have done so much better with this series if they hadn't changed so much. Tanya's original gritty world and darkly sarcastic humour is lost in an attempt to make the show less frightening and Henry more "friendly". A comic book writer? Really? The vampire shows of today are just a regurgitation of the past, and while the books stood out the show simply doesn't.
... View MoreI love Blood Ties. I go over to Lifetime.com to watch the 22 episodes almost daily. What I like about the show is that it's fun, quirky, sexy, a little campy, dramatic, and did I mention sexy? I have a crush on all three of the main characters/actors--Vicki, Henry, and Mike. I love the racially-diverse cast. I love the witty dialog. I love how given a low production budget, they were still able to make the show more of a fantasy based show with pretty good special effects. Potential-wise, this show's first 22 episodes are very similar to the first 2 seasons of Buffy, and I would love to see in what direction the show evolves.
