Television Review: "American Gods" (2017)Here comes a newly-received television show based on Neil Gaiman's novel from 2001, which is continuously a joy-watch worthwhile from the very first episode directed by David Slade, known for features as "Hard Candy" (2005) starring Ellen Page & Patrick Wilson and the contemporary Vampire-Horror-Movie "30 Days of Night" (2007) starring Josh Hartnett & Danny Huston, when the character of Shadow just out Prison, portrayed by thrown-into-play actor Ray Whittle, meets the ancient-gods confronting Mr. Wednesday, performed by always-leisure-sharing actor Ian McShane. The two character travel together as side-kicking buddy couple through Shadow's subconscious in surreal color-forcing digital cinematographer by Jo Willems, know for collaborating with director Francis Lawrence in "The Hunger Games" movie series starring Jennifer Lawrence, letting the main character Shadow confronting his future, present and past in connection with his former death-seeking girlfriend Laura Moon, portrayed by match-making actress Emily Browning. Further supporting cast appearances include actor Crispin Glover as Mr. World, whose legendary characters in motion pictures as in David Lynch's "Wild At Heart", the Palme D'or winning ultimate surreal thriller from the year 1990.Some episode of "American Gods" may vary in suspense-drive, especially towards season 1 conclusions. Nevertheless this original television show, created by tv-format-approved writer/producer Bryan Fuller, and the first look distribution deal from Amazon Studios prime service makes the television filmmaking a piece of art, open for further exploration in an infinite imaginarium.FAZIT: Show recommended (thrilling) © 2018 Felix Alexander Dausend (Cinemajesty Entertainments LLC)

Personal view, I admit, but this is boring. Again that awkward, ridiculous view on mythology. I do not like it. I worked myself --yes, I did not enjoy it-- through the first season in the hope that it would evolve in an interesting way. But no... So, I will not view the next season, if ever there will be one.My god --hey, a god-- what do I miss Carnivale. This series should have got more seasons. It was also awkward, but in a intriguing way. American Gods is a weak, cringingly version of it.

"American Gods" is a sensual opiate. A flood of rich textures of the American experience are conjured in dreams and memories that echo around the story of a conflict brewing. It is a wholly unique drama with a clear sense of identity. It's a fantastic entry in the list of shows that give no care to the whims of pretentious awards culture.
