I have seen this kind of format before: Families write in and ask for their homes to be renovated by designers who are then judged by their own experts in design. The losing designer is then voted off and everyone wins...except for the losing designer. The show always throws in a protagonist designer each week who is most often a grumpy minority. This week the protagonist was a "difficult" black female designer. She ruled with a "iron fist" like most "white" bosses in our American Society, however, because she was a minority giving orders to white people she was tagged as "difficult." White people do not realize they are difficult. They simply refuse to be "bossed around" by a minority; they are not use to it. White people have no problem giving orders to blacks and always say blacks are being "difficult" when they complain. But whites do not consider themselves "difficult" when THEY complain. If white people would examine their own bad attitude then maybe they would understand how badly they treat their minority employees. I am black and the worst boss I ever had was an older, white female boss. She would shout at me, but did not like for me to explain how she was in the wrong. She also, hated the fact I had a college degree. No matter how one looks at it...white people see blacks as being difficult. When the white female designer was voted off for her "lack luster" kitchen design, she immediately "threw her black boss under the bus" by saying the black boss was so difficult to work with she was not able to design well. Same old story, white women ALWAYS throw black women under the bus when times get tough. Black women watch your backs! The series has a "been-there-done-that" feel to it and a ratings of 6 is being generous. Oprah's favorite designer needs to add more than "racial dis-harmony" to spice up his show.
