Church bells ring morbidly, but New Jersey newlyweds Tracy Coogan and Graham Sibley (as Denise and Danny Zanders) are very happily married. Bounding out of the church, they take off in their "Just Married" car with Mr. Sibley at the wheel and Ms. Coogan bobbing her head in his lap. The honeymoon goes well, although one kiss does seem like a foreshadowing bite. With a little "Endless Summer" (1966) music, Sibley goes surfing. While the couple relaxes on the beach, an ugly zombie emerges from the ocean. He falls full front on Sibley and spews dark vomit down his throat. It appears like Sibley may die from the encounter. Coogan is happy when her husband miraculously recovers, but the couple faces a zombie challenge...Neatly written and directed by David Gebroe, "Zombie Honeymoon" is essentially a love story. The horror and gore are present, but Mr. Gebroe does not focus on fright. This sort of monster drama recalls the supernatural characters explored by Dan Curtis on TV in "Dark Shadows" and Anne Rice in her "Vampire Lestat" novels. Explicitly, Mr. Gebroe's script identifies being a zombie as "an affliction." The couple must deal with the potentially monstrous condition and make it work in their marriage, or not...Coogan and Sibley perform well and we understand their plight. Still, there is very an audience can invest in their characters. He likes to surf, she likes oral sex and they got married. They like Portugal, too. That's all great, for them. Generally, we are spectators and do not participate in their interests and activities. A couple of exceptions are among Mr. Gebroe's highlights. He intimately opens a scene by panning Coogan's legs as she dozes in her underwear, then discovers her groom sick in the bathroom. In this sequence, we are brought seductively and effectively into the drama. After an accident on their honeymoon, a woman begins to grow concerned about the change in her new husband's' behavior as it grows increasingly obvious he's become a zombie and tries to keep the behavior under control.This was a decidedly bland and quite uninspired effort that rarely feels like a horror film. Among the major factors keeping this down is the fact that the storyline here hardly ever reads as being a true horror film due to the vast majority of scenes in here being really uninteresting due to the vast majority of scenes in here being really uninteresting as one. Since the main focus here is the diet and how that change affects their behavior toward each other, that changeover should've been handled a lot better than it is here due to the absolutely banal ability to wrap everything as if it's simply cut-and-dried of all explanations and based off that simplistic premise. That is where this one tries to build it's horror off of instead of where it really should matter, as for some really inane manner the fact that a vegetarian is suddenly eating raw meat voraciously and continuously without provocation overlooks the fact that a man is slowly decomposing and actively eating people, both of which should be far more pressing matters that are completely overlooked in here. The focus is entirely wrong and the reasoning why this is allowed to go on instead of being reported to the police is simply lame and really furthers how boring the first half is as this is barely interesting anyway. Beyond the reasoning, what makes this so bad is the entire opening of this which really has nothing of interest here as the couple are arguing about their lifestyle or hanging with friends, and very little of that makes for an enjoyable time. They leave so little of this with any kind of enjoyable parts that even if it wasn't as lame and bland as it is the utterly torturous pace here is of much bigger concern here as this is far more uploaded with drama than horror that it has very little chance to make an impression when it does try something. That really only leaves this with two small scenes of interest here, the best being the first attack on the beach which has a pretty disturbing reality to it with the tranquility of the rushing water and the suspense of the slowly-emerging creature from the waves beyond the fine brawl and the gory resolution. As well, the finale assault on the police officers is where all the blood and gore scenes are found in a somewhat energetic sequence which includes the nice stalking down in the darkened living room culminating in the vicious and brutal ambushes where we also get the fine aftermath of the bodies as well. Though the zombie make-up is decent enough, that's all that works here as this one tends to feature more flaws.Rated R: Graphic Violence, Graphic Language, Nudity and a sex scene.

The plot: Blissful newlyweds have their honeymoon interrupted by a freak zombie attack. With her husband rapidly turning into a zombie, a woman's loyalty and love are pushed to the limit.The problem with zombie movies is that pretty much everything has been done to death. Yes, even zombie romantic comedies are nothing new. It takes a lot to actually make your movie stand out in a genre that attracts every low budget filmmaker ever, and this movie was just too flawed. I found much of the movie to be clichéd and derivative, unfortunately.Like most people, my biggest issue was that the wife was too quick to overlook the fact that her husband was an undead, serial killing cannibal. If the movie had built up to this, it would have been much better. Once she found him eating a freshly-killed corpse, there was absolutely nowhere else left to go, except a series of predictable, repetitive scenes where he kills people and eats them, while she wrings her hands.The concept was solid, but the execution failed. Instead of this movie, I recommend I, Zombie or Return of the Living Dead Part 3. Both of those movies were pretty low budget and flawed, but they worked much better than this one, in my opinion.

I'm a zombie fan. I am a zombie movie fan. I am a zombie liturature fan. I am a zombie philospher. Home, at work, the science of the undead is always on my mind. Zombie Honeymoon, was thee most asinine, horrible, contrite...hodgepodge of b.s, ever, and that is my respectful opinion of it. Exactly, 20 minutes in I began watching it on 1.5 Speed. The newly weds ran on the beach, surfted on puny waves and had sex in inapproprate places. Then a seaweed cloaked zombie climbed up from the deep. Then..Vomited bile on the groom and...expired? Then the groom dies, choaking, perhaps. But really, he writhes for a second and like a candle in the wind, he is gone. To the hospital, he suddenly breaths again! Hallijulia! and feeling pretty good for being exceedinly, lifelessly, dead for 10 minutes, The Groom and Wife go home, la-de-da, wasn't that exciting? Sex. Then She...drives, and drives, and drives as a semi-polluted NJ creeps by to a store. Now, we watch on x10 speed. Then there is a cop, a returned surfboard, a missing man and "this is the strangest thing to happen." ever. In NJ. ...Slowly, painfully slow, the Groom rots and his enevitable zombie urge begins. And by the power of true love,he won't eat his wife. But everyone else, biting faces, arms, noses, wrists, necks, while he falls apart, breaks into sores and chokes on his words. SURELY, seeing your husband, the love of your life, waste away into an abomination is better than simply, ending the misery. Yes, that is how i like my love ones, committing atrocities so we can stay together. ...The movie ends. The bride escapes, laughing, crying, all at x130 speed. ...Showtime will endorse anything.
