... View MoreYou Carry Me" interlace perfectly three histories of three different characters that are deeply marked by their fathers. You could see the three histories in different moments, like three short films, but the way in that they are included in only one feature film gives to this one more strength and it produces that during the two hours and half of film is not boring and it doesn't look like if it's too long. In all the film, this one makes you feel from happiness to sadness for what the characters lives but too hope and hate for what they make and think in different situations. This film is similar to De tu ventana a la mía" of Paula Ortiz, in both we find three histories about three women fighters but in the case of You Carry Me" these womens aren't only in one situation that they have to fight but also they have to learn to coexist with their respectively fathers that, in one or other way and in different moment of the life, they are going to mark their lives. In conclusion, You Carry Me" is a great film that i recommend to all the fans of drama films, even if you don't like this kind of film like me, i recommend you this film because this could surprise you.
... View MoreI wholeheartedly recommend watching this movie, all the more considering this is the directors first featured fiction movie. Ivona Juka, the director, is also credited with the movie's screenplay, which is incidentally one of the best i've seen coming from this region. While Croatia's cinematography continues being plagued by constant motives of war and historical detail, Juka takes us away from these accustomed leit-motifs and tells us a story quite unusual for these parts. The characters don't have a classic happy end, which in my book is a particularly big plus, nor are they in any way stereotypes. These 3 female characters are unique and lifelike in their 3 separate stories.I once again strongly suggest you go see this feature, because you won't feel disappointed at all, only pleasantly surprised by the sheer brilliance of it.
... View MoreAs a Croat, I wasn't really expecting much from the newest Croatian movie You Carry Me, as our filmmaking is rarely exciting and highly interesting. But after exiting the cinema, I was really surprised! The film is excellent, to say at least. It's thoughtful and engaging with highly intelligent directing done by Ivona Juka. The film brilliantly weaves three interconnected stories. Young girl Dora, whose father has returned after a time of absence, Ives, a TV director who spends most of the time caring about her demented father, and Nataa, pregnant woman who is faced with infidelity from her husband. Each story is complete, performances are brilliant and the flow of the film is extremely fluent. This multi-faced story will surely impress you. And don't be discouraged by the length of the movie - this is a modern Croatian masterpiece, and it's worth watching every second!
