Live from San Jose, CAAttendance 18,542Your commentators are Jim Ross & Jerry LawlerVader Vs The Artist formerly Known as Goldust (W/Luna Vachon)Vader wins with a Vader bomb. The match was mediocre, but the crowd was red hot for Vader and it showed that he was ready to be pushed as a top face. The finish was sick as well, with Vader splashing Goldust with Luna on his back.*1/2 out of 5Steve Austin arrives in his truck. He tells Michael Cole to park it, but if he scratches it, he's gonna get his ass whipped. Sunny referees a midget match. I fast forwarded. The Rock says Michael Cole is a complete idiot. Can't deny that. He comments on Bill Clinton and Paula Jones. He says when go to bed with a dog, you're gonna wake up with fleas. "Hey, don't be silly! You gotta cover it, willy" Haha! He says he wants Shamrock one on one and he'll defeat Shamrock tonight.Intercontinental TitleThe Rock (C) Vs Ken ShamrockShamrock wins the title with a belly to belly suplex, but The Rock plants brass knucks in Shamrock's tights. The Rock motions for the ref to check Shamrock. The ref sees the brass knucks and reverses the decision. Shamrock snaps on the referee. This was a fun little match. These two have always had good chemistry with each other and this match was no different. The finish protects Shamrock and keeps the feud going. Win-win.*** out of 5Tag Team TitlesThe New Age Outlaws (C) Vs The Legion of DoomLOD wins by DQ after they handcuff Hawk to the ring and do a number on Animal with a chair. This was a pretty average match. These two never had great chemistry but their feud is very important historically because it represents the downfall of LOD and the rise of The New Age Outlaws.** out of 5Steve Austin wins the rumble. This was a very good rumble. There were no huge surprises, but there was a lot of fun stuff that happened. Mick Foley and Terry Funk beating each other senseless at the start was fun, as well as putting a garbage can on The Rock and beating him up. Foley coming out as all three characters is legendary and something you'll never forget. Owen Hart got a monstrous pop coming out and the crowd loved him. The Rock looked like a star, staying in there for almost 60 minutes. And last but certainly not least, The ol' Rattlesnake was epic as well. They strapped the rocket to his back and he took WWE to new heights. They did a great job of giving you doubts as to whether Austin was attacked backstage by not having somebody come out to their number. The crowd sensed it too. When Austin's music hit, the crowd erupted. Austin and The Rock being the final two at the end was only fitting. I can't forget the added tension between Rock and Farooq either. Overall, just a really fun rumble.Mike Tyson is elated that Austin won the rumble. He calls him "Cold stone" See, Santino Marella wasn't the first to do it.WWF Championship (Casket Match)Shawn Michaels (C) Vs The UndertakerHBK wins after Kane turns on The Undertaker. Kane lights the casket on fire while The Undertaker is in it.This is a fantastic match between these two, what else is new? It's exciting with many big spots and brilliant storytelling through Shawn's resiliency and Taker's relentless strikes. The ending is a classic, setting up Kane vs Undertaker at Wrestlemania. This is a very underrated match that doesn't get enough love. This PPV is a MUST see. It fires on all cylinders. The WWF was in excellent shape going forward and WCW was slowly starting to fade. The tide was turning and this PPV is a big reason why.9/10

1998 is one of the best years in all of Pro Wrestling and in the World Wrestling Federation it was a excellent year all together. Now this being the first Pay Per View of the WWF it could have done more but still the two final matches of the night were worth the wait. This Royal Rumble feature a lot of memories such as the rise of a future hall of famer and the shocking betrayal Match 1: The Artist Formerly Known as Goldust vs Vader. Now this was the opening match and it wasn't something you should call home about but when you see Vader hit the Vader bomb with Luna on his back that's worth a watch.Rating: 6 out of 10Match 2: Max Mini, Mosaic, Nova vs Battalion, El Torito and Tarantula with Sunny as special guest referee. Now to be honest the only reason to watch this match was to see Sunny in her referee out fit because these guys were not sign with the WWF and not to judge them but this match was just for show and didn't anything for me my only guess is they wanted to give a excuse to have Sunny out as Referee Rating: 4 out of 10 Match 3: Ken Shamrock vs The Rock for the WWF Intercontinental Championship. Now these two were long time rivals and they normally had some good matches together and this one was no different plus you have to see the surprise double cross in this match as they work a good match.Rating: 7 out of 10Match 4: The Legion Of Doom (Hawk and Animal) Vs The New Age Outlaws (Road Dogg and Billy Gunn) for the WWF Tag Team Championship I had hope for a match with two of the best tag teams in wrestling history however this match wasn't what I had open for because it was too short and didn't have much time to work out as they also handcuff Hawk to the ropes so it pretty much was a let downRating: 6 out of 10Match 5: The 1998 Royal Rumble. Now this is one of the best royal rumble matches in history for a lot of reasons one being that Mick Foley came out as Cactus Jack, Mankind and Dude Love in this match alone but at different times of course during the match. The match feature The Rock, Owen Hart, Ken Shamrock, Ahmed Johnson, Vader, The Headbangers, DOA, D'Lo Brown, Stone Cold Steve Austin and more. When it was time for Stone Cold to come to the ring who was marked from the start having attack all the guys to be in the Royal Rumble he came through the crowd after every one stop fighting to wait for him to come to the ring and when Austin enters the ring it was game on and Stone Cold Steve Austin was driven as you will see in this match and when the final four takes place you will be in for a treatRating: 9 out of 10Match 6: Shawn Michaels vs The Undertaker Casket Match for the World Wrestling Federation Championship. Now this feud has been going on since the 1997 Summerslam as Shawn cost the Undertaker the championship so this would be the match that would be following up their Hell in a cell match. Both men pull of some good spots and high spots for this match as you see some heavy hitting moves as they were giving their all for this match and sadly this was the match that sideline Shawn but overall they worked a good main event and when you see the climax of this match you'll be in awe.Rating: 9 out of 10Overall this Rumble feature the rise of legends and showcase some good main events it just some of the show could have been better but this is the Attitude Era where it was at the highest time to be a fan of wrestlingI give the 1998 WWF Royal Rumble an 8 out of 10

I Thought the 1998 RR was a good event, Vader V Goldust was an OK match to open the show. Max Mini Mosaic and Nova V Batallion, Tarantula and El Torito was a fun match. Sunny played a nice role as the referee, i hadn't seen her much before but she looked hot. The Rock V Ken Shamrock was a good match, Rocky continued to impress and rise to the ranks, (my favourite Wrestler too). NAO V Road Warriors was a cool match too, DX Rule, and no doubt NAO were the best tag team in the WWE back then. The Royal Rumble itself was intense and excellent, Rocky did well and lasted to the end before being eliminated by Steve Austin who won the Rumble. HBK V Undertaker was match of the night and put on a great casket match. Shame HBK retired for 4 years shortly after. Also the ending was amazing and one not to be missed, Overall a Decent Show, ill give it an 8 out of 10.

This is a great video. I mean you have many great matches including the royal rumble itself. There is also a midget match with the legendary Max Mini. This is a must see for any wrestling fan preferably WWF.
