Wolf Devil Woman begins with a married couple and their infant daughter attempting to escape from a cult led by Red Devil. Surrounded by Red Devil's ninjas, the couple commit suicide, covering their child in their own blood to keep her warm, before starting an avalanche. The ninjas find the bodies of the couple but cannot find the baby. After the ninjas have left, a pack of wolves (unconvincingly played by dogs) arrive on the scene to eat the corpses, with one white wolf uncovering the missing child (still alive) and, instead of eating her, taking her back to the pack's ice cavern.Twenty years later, Young Master Rudolph (I kid you not) and his assistant Rudy embark on a perilous journey to try and locate a 1000 year old ginseng, the root necessary to defeat the Red Devil's blood freezing spell. While on their travels, they encounter the girl raised by wolves, and befriend her, teaching her how to read and write, and correcting her lousy posture. They give her the silly name of Snow Hibiscus. While explaining the purpose of their travels, they discover that the wolf girl has eaten the 1000 year ginseng, leaving them to return home empty handed.Once home, Rudolph decides to launch a surprise attack on Red Devil, but is captured and enslaved. Snow Hibiscus rushes to his rescue, leading to a silly showdown in which the good guys are pitted against more ninjas and hopping zombies controlled by voodoo dolls.Usually, I would enjoy the heck out of any film that features a sexy feral woman dressed as a wolf, teleporting ninjas, a villain sporting a sparkly KKK-style hood with a skull and crossbones motif, hopping zombies, badly animated fire, and even some self-inflicted arterial spray (to douse the aforementioned cartoon fire). With all of this, and more, Wolf Devil Woman sure works hard to appease trash movie fans, but despite all of its craziness, I felt disappointed overall, the dreadful performances, crap editing, and poor direction resulting in a fair amount of tedium. The tone of the whole thing is also very childish, with some particularly terrible comedy: if it wasn't for the occasional decapitation, the gushes of bright red blood and some rather unsettling animal cruelty (rabbits and chickens torn apart), I might have mistaken this for a kid's film.3/10.

Lee Eisenberg

I recently saw Ang Lee's movies "The Wedding Banquet" and "Eat Drink Man Woman". If one sees these movies - both of them outstanding pieces of work - one might assume that only these sorts of movies come from Taiwan.Well, it's time to burst that bubble, because you've never seen anything like Pearl Chang's "Lang nu bai mo" (alternately called "Wolf Devil Woman" and "Wolfen Devil" in English). This has to be one of the single wackiest things ever scripted and filmed. The plot centers on a wolf-raised woman whose parents an evil lord murdered, so she's out for vengeance, but it's an excuse to show off some of the zaniest moves. And the dubbing? It makes the bad guy sound like Yosemite Sam!Basically, this is some of the most fun that you'll ever have watching a movie. I have no doubt that they had a lot of fun filming it. A great time.

The evil-worshiping red devil slaughters the parents of a young girl who is rescued from sure death by snow wolves. They raise her and over the course of twenty years teach her the wolfen ninja skill. She hopes to get her revenge on the "Red Devil".This crazy exploitation flick is easily one of the weirdest HK horror/martial-arts flicks I have ever seen. There are crimson clad ninjas, kungfu gorillas, voodoo dolls, zombies and hopping vampires among the ocean of trashy entertainment.Completely off the wall cult flick with enough gore and cheesy martial arts to satisfy even the most demanding fan of cinema bizarro.Bunny lovers beware!Cute bunnies are butchered in "Wolfen Ninja".Give this oddity a look.7 wolfen ninjas out of 10.

MooCowMo

It has been many, many moons since the MooCow laid his astounded eyes upon the opus known as "Wolfen Ninja", but it is an experience not likely to be forgotten. :=8)Like many of us who grew up in the 60's and 70's, I can remember seeing this amazing film during one of the many Kung Fu Double Features that played on our local tv station(before cable was all the rage) - Channel 48, out of Moo Jersey, I believe. This one had a girl who was abandoned at birth, only to be brought up by a pack of dogs/wolves, who developes her own "special" brand of kung fu. She barked, lapped up water, dressed in furs, and (god as my witness) had a stuffed dog tied around her head, no doubt to remind us of her wolven-cownection. I distinctly remember laughing uproariously throughout the entire film. I would be one happy MooCow if I cud only get my hooves on a copy. It is probably udder some secondary title, but it has proven harder to find than the Holy Grail. Suffice to say, anyone who loves silly kung fu moovies, or stinkers in general, need to see this flick. It's right up there with "Drunken Wu Tang", "Flying Guiletine", and "For Your Height Only".
