First of all, i would like to say that every character in the movie has acted brilliantly. Hats off to Ayan Mukherjee. Ranbir Kapoor (Sid) has done a wonderful role. He carries the role effortlessly. Konkona Sen Sharma (Aisha) has done a great job . There are some instances in the movie where you feel a bit emotional, but you enjoy it, as it is a movie which describes the life of the present young generation......it is an enjoyable movie....i really loved it....

Wake Up Sid has a storyline similar to several Bollywood films. It revolves around a love story, but it has a unique way of showing it.I think of the movie as the average Bollywood blockbuster. But at the same time, I can't deny having enjoyed it. It has big actors which most viewers already know of, like Anupam Kher. It follows a predictable story: two people fall in love, and they eventually propose to each other, and the movie ends. And of course, contrary to Indian soap operas, the movie revolves around ordinary people that the audience can relate to.In a sentence, the movie's about how the immature son of a rich businessman learns to be mature from an independent writer from Calcutta, and how the two of them then fall in love. The themes that Wake Up Sid concerns are only too similar to themes that Bollywood films have already discussed several times in the past: Rich vs. Poor, Love Conquers All, Mature vs. Immature, and a few other social and personality themes. At times, the movie felt over-dramatic. I don't know what to say. It is not a Hollywood movie, though it's trying to be. It's not a unique movie like Taare Zameen Par that faces unique issues rarely/never discussed before in Bollywood films. It truly is an average film. But I'm giving it 9/10 stars because it's something that I enjoyed. So I'd recommend you watching it.

WAKE UP SID – CATCH IT ( A ) Wake Up Sid, is an outstanding and a complete real movie. I was literally amazed with how much detail and conviction the young director has made the movie and during all 2/1 hr not for a single second I felt boredom. All the characters in the movie can be seen in our normal life. Ranbir kapoor is truly a genius star, he brought the purity to the character which no one else would have. Konkona Sen Sharma yet again proved that what ever she does, it's par excellence. She in outstanding and looks completely natural. Her chemistry with Ranbir kapoor is the true base of the movie. Anupam Kher and Supriya Pathak did a fantastic job. Kashmira Shah was for few scenes and she looked really good for the 1st time in her life I guess. LOL. All the other new young actors were amazing as Sid's friends. Ayan Mukerjee is a fine young director and the whole movie is his vision. I am really glad that Karan Johar let him made the movie he wanted to make not something that would appeal the commercial success only. No wonder the movie is a huge Hit now. Love it Love it Love it!

Ayaan Mukherjee's coming-of-age movie 'Wake Up Sid' comes as a breath of fresh air during a time when the Hindi film industry seemed to only focus on the tried and tested formula. Considering that Karan Johar was the producer, I was expecting it to be another one of those rich NRI (non-residential Indian) movies set somewhere in New York but thankfully it's nothing like that. 'Wake Up Sid' takes place in Bombay and I liked how Mukherjee presents the city. His direction is fluid. It's quite surprising that this was made by a first time director.'Wake Up Sid' tells the story of a rich spoilt brat who, thanks to a rich father, has everything going for him. However, the day he finds out he failed his final exam, frustration takes over and be breaks ties with his old friends and moves out of his parents' house. His new friend, Aisha, a vivacious non-nonsense young lady, new to life in Bombay, agrees to let him stay. However, the clash between lifestyles, that of Aisha, a strong independent tidy young woman, and Sid, a lazy young man who's dependent on others to clean up his mess and cook and serve meals to him, creates tension.Mukherjee's writing is solid. The story is easy to follow and the characters are easy to relate to. Iyengar's dialogue is witty and charming. The songs are great and they fit brilliantly with the story giving it a whimsical touch. Further, I liked that Mukherjee didn't use typical visuals of Mumbai and focused on what mattered like the sea.Ranbir Kapoor is very competent as Sid. He shows that he is capable of leading a movie but Konkona Sen Sharma steals the show once again. She plays Aisha with sheer ease and spontaneity. Of the supporting cast Namit Das, as Sid's former friend and Supriya Pathak as Sid's mother are outstanding. I especially liked Sarita's dedication as a mother and how she learns English just to get closer to her son.Newcomer Ayaan Mukherjee has made a fine little film, something that might exceed entertainment especially for the youth of today. But that's not to say that it ain't for the family. Quite the contrary.
