This film has got some bad reviews.ButIf you like fake MMA (as opposed to watching K1 / Pride / UFC reruns) then this film is for you.Yes we can all guess the plot from the synopsis, yes we can say its predictable. But hay so was the hunger games and Lord of The Rings. So if you like sweaty men and cute girls with names like Pepper than this film is going to be great. If your wondering I've given it 8/10 simply because it is unpretentious unadulterated fun :-)

I watched this today with no expectations since I hadn't heard of it before. I wanted to like it because I like MMA and it had some fighters I like in it. Surprisingly the MMA fighters were better actors then the main character Ringo. The writing and cinematography were better then expected. I just wish Ringo was even remotely likable. The actor didn't show any emotion at any point during the movie. In an underdog movie you need an actor that people want to see win, but all I was hoping is he'd be killed during the final fight scene. If you're going to have nudity in a strip club scene why would it be in soft focus? What were you thinking?

I started watching this film wasn't expecting much from it but it was just surprisingly good! I especially love the music and editing especially the camera work, all the slow mo and "shaky-cam" weren't over done but rather put together in a graceful yet exciting manner, got to love a movie that can convey the heart of a fighter from the screen to its audience - and this is often rather difficult to pull off, prime example of such failure can be seen in movies like "fighting", for instance. I'm thoroughly surprised and impressed and would recommend it to anyone who like fight movies! Be warned though this movie does contain quite a bit of violence (obviously...) and a fair bit of nudity - and i'm definitely not complaining..AT ALL!

I can't remember if I've ever written a review for IMDb but here goes.I couldn't hold myself back from this one. Probably because I'm a big MMA fan (UFC, Pride, WEC, K1 etc). This movie does absolutely nothing for any fans of MMA except insult your intelligence. That's right. It tries to be the Rocky/No Retreat, No Surrender movie for MMA fans with Duran being the the main character. A washed up fighter who's as old as Ken Shamrock but only offering about 5% of Shamrocks ability. Scary!I'm not even going to name the UFC fighters who star in this as they've all lost my respect for the dismal performances & the crappy choreography in the cage. Everything they've worked hard for has been made a mockery of.If you like lots of naked chicks in strip bars mixed with horrific (meaning unrealistic) fight scenes then this movie is for you.If you are an aspiring MMA fan/fighter I urge you not to see this movie as it's insulting & embarrassing.Rent out Blood Sport from (1988) or Kickboxer (1989) starring Jean- Claude Van Damme if you're looking for a Martial Arts tournament type good versus bad movie. At least it has some decent techniques & camera work. I'm serious, well compared to this effort 20 years later. If you are looking for spectacular Martial Arts with tournament & street fighting then look no further than Ong Bak starring Tony Jaa. The Warrior King is also spectacular. A little bit fantasy may be but not as bad as this tripe! Another great recent release is Merantau Warrior, right up there with Ong Bak using Silat instead of Muay Thai.
