I have to start out by saying that given the synopsis of "Tooth and Nail" then I had initially expected a bit more from this movie, but it turned out to be a really boring movie and a major disappointment. The audience is supposed to buy into this being a post apocalyptic world. Right. Except that it didn't come off as being post apocalyptic in one bit. And the reason for the downfall of man and this apocalypse; because we ran out of fuel. Seriously? Ran out of fuel? The storyline is really slow, dull and dimwitted, and it was fast becoming a struggling battle to keep attention to the screen, especially because nothing much of any importance or interest took place on the screen. As for the acting, well people were doing adequate jobs with their given roles and characters. But not even Vinnie Jones could manage to salvage this sinking ship. And believe me, the ship was sinking fast. The one thing that the movie had working for it was the camera-work, which was actually quite good. And also the production value seemed to be adequate. But these factors could do nothing to lift up the rest of this abysmal movie experience.I managed to make it into 53 minutes into the movie before I gave up out of sheer boredom, and actually having dozed off once or twice. And I have no plans to put it on again to finish it, because there just is nothing alluring to make me watch the rest of the movie."Tooth and Nail" scores a meager 2 out of 10 stars.
... View MoreIn the near future, after the collapse of society, a handful of survivors holed up in a hospital, are attacked by a group called Rovers, who are cannibals...The idea behind this film isn't the most original, but that isn't the main problem here. The main problem is the film not delivering on the premise. The story had the potential to be very gripping, but sadly it turns into a rather dull variation of a stalk and slash type film. It doesn't help that a lot of the film takes place in darkened rooms, which means at times it is hard to see what is happening. The actors give okay performances, though none stand out, and the likes of Michael Madsen are completely wasted. The script, written by the director Mark Young, doesn't flesh out the characters enough to make you care about them, and his direction sadly doesn't make up for the story short-comings.It's not a terrible movie, but it is a very disappointing one.
... View Morelet me start by saying that if oil is to run out in 2012 i promise, promise not to call myself something retarded like badger or python and dress like a retarded caveman! The cast of this movie however were unable to make the same assurances.. there is an actor in this film called kevin e scott, his career has spanned 10 years and consisted of 3 small movie roles, it is clear why after seeing this. At times he appears to have been drugged as he is mumbling completely unaware that he is in a movie or that movies even exist. Is it possible to trick somebody into being an actor without them realising? even when he is being slaughter by a retard caveman he hardly even snapped out of his rubbish acting induced coma, they should have smashed that cleaver into his head for real cos nobody would even realise he was gone and those that did clearly would have rejoiced. The actors didn't even seem to care they were being murdered one by one it was truly the biggest amount of garbage i have ever seen!!! p.s i don't think its acceptable to elect a leader as the intelligent one purely because he wears spectacles, the vinnie jones laughing scene was pathetic too. i would rather rub one out in front of my parents then watch this again!! enjoy
... View More~Spoiler~Quite ironic that a post-apocalyptic film about the loss of gas runs out of gas itself all too soon. Tooth and Nail, part of the After Dark Horrorfest 2007, is missing one essential element that makes all of the 80's, Italian "apoc" movies classics: Fun. This movie is just not fun. It takes place in the near future where, because of the gas shortage, society has broken down into the peaceful foragers and the cannibalistic rovers. When one group wants to eat the other, there's naturally going to be conflict. But it's the most boring conflict ever. The character's simply hide in one of two sets and wait to be killed. If you're seeing this because of the great cast, again, don't bother. Here's the screen time breakdown: they probably had Michael Kelly and Robert Carradine for a week, Vinnie Jones for three days, and Michael Madsen for less than a day. That leaves Rider Strong, who is not playing the lead, and Rachel Miner (who after last year's Horrorfest entry I really don't care for). I don't know what is going on with Madsen and Jones, they are capable of much better. And another thing, don't name your characters after cars. Turino and Viper...ridiculous.
