OK Where to begin?This is a small budget but well organised film. And as a child found it very enjoyable. So enjoyable in fact that I often compared TM (Too Much) to Johny 5! Yeh! The film was made during a time when there were so many films being made left right & centre. It's like everyone knew how to make films in those times! Not like now when you need a planet of people to create the Special FX alone.TM is family entertainment with some added stuff thrown in. OK. Good & Bad points time! Lets start with the good points:-The first thing that strikes you is that it has a wonderful & fitting soundtrack. The Title song is catchy & you'll be singing it randomly at your Desk at work 10 years later out of the blue & think.. What the F.. So yeah, the soundtrack is very well arranged. It uses electronic synthesiser arranged music & I must say is far more interesting than a lot of incidental music you get now. Even by todays standards, the sounds they used are authentic & haven't been heard since. It's a shame this wasn't released on CD. I would have loved to do a remix just for fun! The actors are strong. Usually when you involve children in a film they are SO god damn annoying! But the Robot is the most annoying person actually! But still. There's some great action scene's for a film of this grade & it's edited well. The atmosphere of the film is a Romantic one & really gives a beautiful sense to Justice, Love & Hope. Although it is a USA film, it is set in the serene country of Japan & gives it a charming outlook. From the small quaint abode they stay in to & warm Mega-shop, a nice deserted farm with cows & even on the run through the streets; it still seems nice to see the ever tall buildings glimmer through the pink night of the worlds largest city: Tokyo. The other advantage it has is that it was made in the 80's. And unlike the music of this time, Films seem fascinating & enjoyable to watch now. Bad Things:It's cheesy! But what do you expect for a kids movie? There are loop holes like when TM cuts a hole in the roof of the Van. It's much too small for him! And when Dr Finkal (?) takes what looks like a vital component out of TM he still works! The playing Hide & Seek bit at the start is awful! And this robot is so advanced he can grasp Love, but bright lights scare him? And finally, at the end.. We did it Suzzy' we did it! Erm.. What did you do exactly? Anyway, I still have this floating about on video somewhere but for the most part, I think this will only be remembered by fans & otherwise has been lost in time. I myself thinks it's adorable! But it helped seeing it as a kid!

I remember seeing this film years and years ago when I was younger. You know I didn't think it was so bad, and what I'd really loved was the very touching friendship between the girl Suzy and the robot 'Too Much' (or TM for short). I quite enjoyed seeing what Japan was like and I loved the theme song 'Dear Friend', even now I can remember it as though it were yesterday. I think that this film is a lovely treat for all the family. I'll tell you something else, before this film I never really knew much about Bridgette Andersen. It was only last year when I heard that she had died years before that I decided to have a look at her life. I found out about she was quite a popular child star in the eighties and that in the nineties she got into drugs which lead her into a dilemma that she couldn't get out of. I also found out from something that a close friend of hers said about how she died; how one day after she had seen Bridgette the night before, she went to her flat and found people from the hospital carrying her out on a stretcher due to the fact that she had taken an overdose and sadly never recovered. That's why I think that this being her last film is a great tribute to her memory.

This is a story about friendship between an American girl and a robot named "Too Much", and enjoyable enough if you like Robot movies or "B" Sci-Fi movies. The plot is heartwarming and very much lovely, including some kind of misunderstandings about Japan. The soundtracks are good, especially for "Fun In Japan" and "Dear Friend".It is sad that this movie is almost unknown even in my country, and above all, this is the last appearance of Bridgette Andersen on the screen. She's gone forever.

I am an elementary school teacher. I show this movie every year to conclude my unit study of the country of Japan. It is excellent because it isn't a movie typically already viewed by my students. They laugh (and cry) all the way through it. After viewing it, they always ask me "Where did you get this movie?" It is about a little girl, little boy, and a robot getting lost in Japan. The girl loves the robot, but there is an "evil person" after the robot strictly for profit. So the little girl and the robot run away (and soon befriend a little Japanese boy). I recommend it to anyone that can find a copy of it. It is very hard to find.
