Released in 1992.I hated this film mostly because Tom and Jerry spoke.Every one knows that their not allowed to talk.Secondly, the characters are all unlikable, including Tom and Jerry. With clichéd villains who want to kill an innocent child for no reason.(It is never explained why the villains even want to kill her). The plot is just all over the place.First off,it becomes a musical, the our heroes talk and then they have to save a little girl.Lastly, the jokes fall flat, especially without all the slapstick. In conclusion, the film is one long middle finger to all Tom and Jerry fans.Just stay away from this sh*tty excuse for an animation film.
... View MoreNow I know this is a film that came out over 20 years ago and now a days people think its terrible, but let me tell you something. Tom and Jerry are not dead. They live on forever in our spirits. Besides this is the only time they ever talked and I didn't think the plot was that bad. I also like that little girl Robin who was so depressed and desperate to get to the summer place his father built and to get away from that awful Pristine Figg. She was pretty mean anyway and so was that Dr. Applecheek guy and he was voiced by Henry Gibson who also voiced Wilbur in Charlotte's Web. One thing I now realize that doesn't make sense in this movie though is that the summer home that Robins father built is in Tibet which is of course not here in America, but in Asia next to China. Also they just said that Tibet is passed Cleveland as in Cleveland, Ohio. Why the heck would it be outside of Cleveland, Ohio? Its next to China. Learn geography for gods sake. Now the whole reason is that many people disliked this movie was because they all thought that it would be just Tom and Jerry being silent throughout it. Well I think that would just be silly. Tom and Jerry had to talk sometime soon so whats wrong with that? It's done wonders for many other famous cartoon characters and Tom talked in some old Tom and Jerry cartoons. All in all its a good film and entertaining. Also I got sad during Robins song so that must've made some people have heart for this. So people just leave this film alone for the love of God. Jeez. It's a movie about Tom and Jerry and it has to have a plot so get used to it.
... View MoreTom and Jerry was a huge part of my childhood. By that, of course I mean I watched the reruns wherever I could catch it, be it Boomerang or YouTube. In fact, I nearly became borderline obsessed with it. Then, with each movie that came out after the Tom and Jerry Nutcracker, I became less and less interested. Then, I decided to see the movie. At first, I wondered I hadn't heard anyone that really mentioned it. Until I saw it.How many ways can you ruin Tom and Jerry before it was eventually ruined by crappy movie after crappy follow-up TV show (other than Tom and Jerry tales)? Many ways, but they did it with two words: VOICE ACTORS. Uh...NO! NOOOOO! You get two of the most famous silent stars EVER, with their cartoons winning all sorts of awards (even an Oscar), and you give them VOICE ACTORS?AND HAVE THEM SING AND DANCE? ABOUT HOW MUCH THEY LOVE EACH OTHER? ALONG WITH A DOG AND FLEA?Could your middle finger not have been obvious enough? Because that's what this movie was: a GIANT middle finger. A giant "screw you" to fans who originally loved the cartoons and thought this movie would be good. It also doesn't help that they include human characters and even Indiana Jones. You read right. INDIANA JONES. Ya know...do I really need to say anymore. Nope. Come on, guys. That's like including Han Solo in Sex and the City. Or like including the Terminator in Finding Nemo. Or like putting the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in a Power Ranger--oh yeah. That happened.
... View MoreNow how can you take one of the greatest cartoon teams of all time and almost ruin what makes them great?I know making them talk, these are two of the greatest silent film stars in history and you make them talk? Come on that is true injustice. While it may have try to target a new generation of fans for those of us who grew up watching the reruns on TV this is one of the biggest injustice ever done to a classic. The plot for the film is just ugh to say the least. The Animation in the film well some of it is good work but the rest is pretty much like watching a coloring book come to life. The music in the film is not even really convincing to sell the story.Even the story itself isn't all it crack up to be it just pretty much this film was made just to get some money and from what I learned it wasn't even a box office success. So pretty much stay away from this film if you love Tom and Jerry you will avoid this film.I give Tom and Jerry: The Movie a 2 out of 10
