Reminds me of a Jarmusch film. A thriller with almost little script. Yet, the performances and film-making take you on a subconscious journey. Really liked the film. Lead actor is extremely good. Always love seeing John Savage in anything and he certainly does not disappoint here. Cinematography was edgy, strange and completely sucked me in. Music is haunting and kinda old school in its themes. Kind of like Bernard Herman (for those who know).I would put it into the genre of men going insane ala The Shining. It tells the story of a recently returning veteran who comes home to a family on the verge. His Dad is a nut. His wife is uptight and sorta crazy. He is trying to be a nice guy but then things are swirling in his head.... To say that you know the story is going to go "bad" is putting it mildly. The story centers around the family returning to an old cabin in Montana. As they attempt to put their lives back together things begin to spin horribly apart as the past and present collide. I loved the ending. You are really left with the feeling that things aren't over.

Feel like I watched a completely different film than the first poster. Had to double check to make sure I had the right page. Reminded me of seventies art film with terrific performances. Some may not care for the obvious digital video look of the film however I felt like it was somewhat like a documentary. Fragments of events that powerfully conclude. The film begins with a soldier having come home from Iraq. Unfortunately I've had several friends serve - which led me to watch the film. It really isn't about the Iraq war, but rather the damage done to young souls. That and a heavy duty past drive the story forward. Odd ball local characters only make matters worse, as the lead character tries to patch the lives of his father and his wife back together. The dad is played by the terrific as always John Savage. The son is played by Kirk Harris who is grimly intense in the film. The wife is played by Irina Bjorklund. The film also has the brother from the True Adventures of Old Christine as a wildly gay young man. As a film lover - I would compare it somewhat to a Terrence Malick film. More lyrical than a direct narrative.

So bad it's bad....Can't even get thru bad...wow.Talk about a possible good idea turned very wrong. It appears that this writer didn't have much to write about, and just filmed a bunch of stuff....edited it together and ended it close to 80 min to call it a feature film.Like...hey I got this idea about a Marine who goes home....but he's nuts... Then.....I don't know....hmmm......I just don't know how to write a script so I guess I'll just film stuff. The filming is very low quality, which is not the problem... I can tolerate low quality if the movie is really good. I've seen short films with no budget kill this movie.I'm sure this has to be in the top 20 worst films of all time.
