I was sheltered from Spongebob because I used to pull my pants down and imitate his laugh at church. I watched his movie a couple years ago and I am glad I was hidden from it. Spongebob bathes with his neighbor, we see his friend Patrick's butt a couple of times, and there other crude jokes. Mindy gets sexual harassment from Patrick too. This should NOT be viewed by kids. The fact that it is shocks me.Show your kids a different movie.

The SpongeBob movie is amazing and funny and has a great story in it. It's about SpongeBob who learns to believe that he's really a kid instead of an adult. Of course SpongeBob is an adult that acts like a kid and that's what's special about him cause he has a childhood like personality. Now in this one scene of the movie we see SpongeBob and Patrick get drunk....on ice cream!? Now that's something to put in a kids movie like this. Two best friends getting drunk on ice cream. lol. You might even say that the ice cream that SpongeBob and Patrick were eating had butter rum flavor in it. lol. Now the whole plot of this story is that SpongeBob thought he was gonna be the new manager of the Krusty Krab 2, but the job was handed over to Squidward cause Mr. Krabs says that SpongeBob is just a kid and that he has to be a man to be manager. SpongeBob gets very depressed and heads down to Goofy Goobers Ice Cream party boat with his friend Patrick where they get drunk on ice cream. Meanwhile Plankton steals King Neptunes crown and frames Mr. Krabs and the crown is sent to the forbidden Shell City. When SpongeBob see's Neptune about to fry Mr. Krabs he asks if he would be the one to get the crown back and Neptune doubts it until Mindy asks him to give SpongeBob to get the crown back so Neptune sends SpongeBob and Patrick to come back with his crown in 6 days and freezes Mr. Krabs for until then. Then SpongeBob and Patrick go on a long road trip to Shell City in the Patty Wagon. On the way they run into a thug who takes the Patty Wagon and decide to walk the rest of the way. Meanwhile Plankton steals the Krabby Patty formula while Mr. Krabs stood frozen and starts selling Krabby Patties at the Chum Bucket. He also sends an assassin to get rid of SpongeBob and Patrick from getting the crown. His name is Dennis by the way and is voiced by an actor that I don't like very much. Alec Baldwin. That guy is a man baby. Meanwhile SpongeBob and Patrick find their car and they try to get the key out of the bar it was parked at and manage to do it. Elswhere Squidward discovers that Plankton was selling Krabby Patties and was about to turn in Plankton until Plankton starts turning everyone in Bikini Bottom into slaves with brain control helmets. Now this was the only time that Plankton did something so big and evil cause throughout the show he is just trying to compete with Mr. Krabs and his plans never usually work. Meanwhile SpongeBob and Patrick deal with an angler fish that uses ice cream as bait and their car gets eaten by it and they stop at deep dark dangerous hazardous monster infested trench. Then they decided to go home until Mindy comes and tells them what's happened back in Bikini Bottom. Then she gives them fake mustaches and they go into the trench and out of it until they run into Dennis. Dennis was about to squish them with a big cleat until he gets squished by a bigger boot which was owned by a horrible cyclops who takes SpongeBob and Patrick to Shell City which was of course a souvenir shop. A fishes worst nightmare. They were being dried up into nick knacks until they are saved by the tear of the Goofy Goober and they come back to life and then all the other fish in the shop started coming alive and they attack the cyclops. Then they tried get back home with a bag of winds but they lose it until David Hasslehoff comes to the rescue and gives them a ride back to Bikini Bottom. On they way Dennis comes back to finish the job until he gets knocked off Hasslehoff by a sail boat. When they got back they fall into a trap set up by Plankton when he puts a mind control helmet on King Neptune. When SpongeBob, Patrick and Mindy were about to meet their doom, until SpongeBob saves the day with the power of rock n roll. Then everyone is free from Plankton's mind control devices and Plankton is sent to jail and everything returns to normal in Bikni Bottom. Also SpongeBob becomes the new manager after Mr. Krabs realizes that he doubted him and he won't make that mistake again. Great and amazing here and just before SpongeBob started going down the toilet.

SpongeBob in a movie, this is a true study of marine life from the perspective of a French narrator and a load of pirates. Well OK no it isn't but the SpongeBob SqaurePants movie is a great little creation at the bottom of the sea, are the jokes on point?, Well not all of them and is the story greatly fun?, Not always but even so I enjoyed myself here, not the kind of downright crying with laughter enjoyment but there is some stupid stuff in here to make you giggle. We see the little yellow sponge go on an adventure to find a crown with his best mate Patrick the starfish and all well as you might expect does not go to plan. The story plays out a little rushed and with that said the movie is only 88 minutes long, but even if the story is rushed the running time seems just fine. I think the movie could have tried to stretch itself too much and ended up too bloated but by the end you feel happy enough that you have seen an OK movie (well I did anyway).Although I will credit Tom Kenny(SpongeBob) and Bill Fagerbakke(Patrick) for creating unique voices, they are some of the most annoying voices ever after too long on the screen. The screeching and shouting that these two give off is enough to kill your eardrums, the jokes don't always play on loud screams but sometimes they actually do! Now I this movie is a nice go along on a journey kind of film, a genuine road trip from two genuine animated friends and also a load of baddies thrown in too, good fun indeed. I think the animated TV show maybe benefits slightly more from this brand of humour so it can be made more compact, but nevertheless the movie is still fitted in nicely and well timed throughout.Stephen Hillenburg directs well and to be honest I would say 80% of what is funny in this is down to him, he not only works well within the script but also seems to work the right movements from the characters to make it fast but not so fast you miss it. The writing is a little sloppy, again it works well in the show but the film can feel like a step too far at times, but does finish up nicely. I wasn't too keen on the more childish elements that can be seen throughout, it is by no means constant but does come in bits and pieces and really made the film look too much geared toward children. On that last point, the recommendations. Sure kids are going to maybe like this, even have a blast and if they are fans of the show, then let them watch this now. For other older fans of the show then sure this is good fun and contains laughs everywhere dotted around just as randomly as creatures are on sea floor itself. I did think that the movie doesn't show the characters that are in the TV show enough in the movie but by the end you don't really care, a fun plot with a fun end.Overall an animation that is by no means bad, but by no means incredible, a kind of good mix of alright and pretty good. Watch it with a slight smile on your face and never ever take it seriously or you will want to destroy this, just be silly and if you can't then, try and get into silly mode because this is one strange ride.

When I was a kid, I loved SpongeBob. A LOT. I've seen all the episodes of it, had some of the plush toys, and rewatched all the DVDs I had, and I knew every line and moment by heart. I remember watching the first film in the theater, and I loved it. I had the DVD of the film, for my love of it(my mom had to buy it again and again because I was not worthy of trust with DVDs). So I rewatched the first film to relive memories, and it was awesome! The jokes are frequently clever and silly, just like the show. Some are bodily functions gags and slapstick, but a lot of them are the highlights of the film. The animation is very nice, whether it be the backgrounds or the Tex Avery-inspired character animation. The music is also soothing and fun to listen to. Overall, before you see Sponge Out Of Water, see the original for its zany comedy antics, vivid animation, and it's really cool soundtrack. Even if Sponge Out Of Water is hilarious, this one is a mile funnier.
