Okay, I'll admit trying to balance any movie with both horror and comedy is no easy task. Everyone wants to make the new Shaun of the Dead it seems.Killer Party had a nice premise, baby shower with Hollywood guests who mostly seem self absorbed and not in touch in the real world, suddenly throw into a zombie attack. Problem one was that there was entirely too many people to try and get a grasp on. Should of stayed more focused on Mary ( the mom to be ), her hubby and another couple. Problem two was the decision NOT to show any violence. Every attack scene was either never shown, quickly cut away from, or when Mary gets attacked to show it all from behind a window curtain.. Very strange decisions. In fact, Its a film that could very easily be seen on Lifetime. It's not a terrible film, just one quickly forgotten. Rachael Drummond who played Mary is a very talented actress with a good comedic sense. I do hope to see more of her down the road.
... View MoreI saw the movie twice with my daughter at some horror conventions. It was my favorite movie at both. I thought there was great acting by everyone, and loved the mix of horror and humor. If you like Shaun of the Dead, you'll like this movie. The special effects were also good. The film was just the right length. I would tell people to catch this film if they are looking for a new horror flick to view. The movie takes place at a shower, infection breaks out, people struggle to make it to a safe place with everyone. The filming was also good and had just the right touch of blood and gore for me. It's the type of film for horror comedy lovers everywhere. i would also like to say at each horror fest that we viewed the movie the room was almost to full, and everyone in the room was enjoying the film, laughing at the right parts, heard all good things as we left the room from people walking around us. hope they make a another movie i would love to see it as well.
... View MoreI saw the movie at the Macabre Faire Film Festival last year. It's about a bunch of L.A. professionals that get together for a baby shower and the world goes haywire while they are there. Then they fight to survive for the rest of the film. This thing was just fantastic. It has about a gagillion characters in it, and you would think it was Whedon working his magic with how well all of them are defined and given appropriate screen time. The Director juggles the opening introductions with a skill that is somewhat awe-inspiring.The cast is superb. Just an excellent group of actors. Every hits their notes perfectly.Yeah, if you've seen the poster, there's a killer clown. But it's not a movie about a killer clown. That's just one of the many interesting parts of the film. It's really about these characters and how they react to each other during this stressful situation. And it is FUNNY. Laugh out loud hilarious all the way through. Seriously, i had such a great time watching this movie. Easily one of my favorite films I've seen on the festival circuit in the last several years. If I had anything bad to say about the movie at all, it's that it killed off my favorite character way too early for my tastes. I mean, it was totally right for the story, but I'm selfish and I wanted more hilarity from this particular actor. Not sure what else to say. Killer Party was truly excellent and you should make time for it.
... View MoreI had the good luck of seeing The Shower (now Killer Party) at a horror convention, and I loved it, so much so, that when it was playing at another convention I was at, I made sure to see it again. The film is about a group of friends who come together for a baby shower, during which an outbreak occurs, leading to great horror and humor. You get to know the characters and relationships well before they are all drawn into the mayhem that ensues around them, which was very nice to see. Each character has memorable moments, and I enjoyed watching them fight, argue, and work together. To me, Killer Party was a fun ride of a horror film, and I recommend checking it out.
