I found a lot of things wrong with this movie. First, Julia Stiles did not reprise her role as Paige Morgan, which I thought was a very good role for her. I guess she read the script and decided against it. Second, there was no chemistry at all between Luke Mably (Edvard) and Kam Heskin (Paige). I didn't believe for one second that she was Paige and that they were in love to be married. Luke had much better chemistry with Julia than he had with Kam. It just looked very fake to me and I didn't like them together. Third, at the end of the movie, when Edvard gets Paige back, he says a whole speech to her. It can clearly be seen that he didn't remember his lines, so he's reading his lines from the cue cards near the camera. And as he's reading from it, you can tell when he's waiting for the cue cards to switch to the next line. He clearly didn't want to be in this movie and didn't act his best. It's a good storyline, but the chemistry and the acting made the movie unwatchable. I think they should've stopped at the first movie and not made another 3 after the first one.

This movie was probably one of the worst movies I've ever watched. I may be a little biased though, but it was stuffed full of, well, practically nothing danish. First of all, it wasn't even filmed in Denmark, apart from Frederiksborg slot, which was only at the beginning of the movie, and is honestly completely irrelevant, since it's a museum and hasn't been lived in for a very long time. The names are stupid too, Kirsten is a rather old fashioned name, and I don't imagine anyone of her age would be named that, unless they had very old fashioned parents. We have a long tradition of naming our male royals Christian or Frederik, unless they are very unlikely to become heirs, but again, even if he wasn't the crown prince, which he is, Edvard is a very very old fashioned name, even older than Kirsten, and no parent who wishes any good for their child would name them that. The last king we had who wasn't named either Christian or Frederik was king Hans, who died in 1513. The whole plot revolves around a nonexistent law. Being married to a non-royal has been allowed for a long time, even though it only became normal about halfway through the 1900's. The part about having to speak in danish is true, if you want to be a danish princess/prince, you are required to learn danish, but you would receive many hours of classes, and no one would expect you to be perfect. So it's really a quite ridiculous movie, and the rest of them aren't much better.

I honestly think Kam Heskin was a much better choice for this part! She added so much more enthusiasm, love, sweetness, dignity and humour to Paige Morgan - queen of Denmark wannabe - than Julia Stiles ever put into it.What pulled the movie down was the fact that Luke Mably hardly tried to hide how bored he was. It looks like he almost sabotages his part! I did not at all see the love, he was supposed to feel for Paige. He just looks tormented and whining. This movie would have been a lot better had Chris Geere played King Edvard in this movie as well as in the following.Apart from that, it's still enjoyable to watch. It's funny in places - Søren and the actress who plays Princess Kirsten are hilarious.Of course it's not at all realistic - not about Denmark or it's monarchy. It's a fairy tale and should be watched as such.Maybe the author could have done a tiny bit more homework about Danish. it's hilarious - though not intended, I think - when the Danish king - who supposedly speaks Danish perfectly - can say: "Du bliver hurtigt flydende" (= You'll get fluid quickly!)The word 'fluent' about speaking a language - doesn't translate like that in Danish. But that's a detail. It's still a cute, pleasant fairy tale worth watching - though not so good as nr 3 and 4, due to the better chemistry between the actors and a lot more humour.

I had the unfortunate experience of viewing the Prince & Me original movie just before the sequel, the Prince & Me 2. The sequel had none of the charm and believability of the first, Whatever on-screen chemistry Julia Stiles and Luke Mably had in the first is completely lacking in the sequel. It's safe to say that Kam Heskin can't act her way out of a paper bag. When the marriage is called off, she's shows as much emotion as one hearing it would rain that day; a momentary contemplation, a shrug and off.The only enjoyable part was seeing how Luke Mably matured from a care-free student to a more serious King of Denmark. As it should be.This movie was completely disappointing, not only in the majority of new actors from the original, but the overall cheesiness of the production. Anyone who viewed Lady Diana Spencer's marriage to Prince Charles knows what a royal wedding looks like. The Prince & Me 2 perhaps paid $99 at David's Bridal for the wedding gown. The church was woefully empty of attendees. Very little pomp and almost no circumstance. One thing that really gnawed at me were Paige's parents, also new actors. They dressed the father well in a very nice suit, but the poor bride's mother looked as if her clothes came from a rubbish bin. Yes, she's a farmer's wife, but believe me, lots of farmers I know have very attractive and well-dressed wives. And how did the parents fly from Podunk, America to Denmark in two hours? The space shuttle? The script was predictable, the actors weren't stretched by any means and, sadly, when needed most of all, Paige was a dud. She had none of the sparkle, determination, honor and depth of character as written in the first film.Others have gone into the historical inaccuracies and blase' treatment of Danish history, but 5,000 years indeed!!! There wasn't even a Denmark 5,000 years ago, much less a monarchy. Were they so low on funds that scene couldn't be re-shot??? If the writer made the mistake, was there no one - producer, director, even an actor - who didn't catch this? The role of Soren, so ably portrayed by Ben Miller, with sly sarcasm and stoic wit, in the original movie, was taken on by Jonathan Firth, the brother of able Colin. Unfortunately, the writing wasn't nearly as clever as the first, and subsequently, left Mr. Firth with nothing to work with. The ball scene was also unbelievable. That a princess of the blood (Kirsten) wouldn't know how to dance? Commmmme onnnnnnnnn. And that an American girl could pull it off flawlessly with no visible training? My suspenders of disbelief were stretched to the max throughout this film, although I stuck it out to the end to give it a chance.Best thing about the movie? The horses, purebloods all, unlike the actors.
