The Mooring Trailers

Every 40 seconds a person goes missing. In northern Idaho, a group of teenage girls attended a summer camp to help them connect with nature without technology. They were told it would be a summer of change. As the girls' houseboat is suddenly stranded in the middle of the river an odd couple comes to their aid. What was suppose to be an act of kindness turns deadly as the girls find themselves on the run, being pursued through the forest by a brutal and determined killer.

The Mooring comes across as two separate films. The first half consists of a group of giggly young girls going camping/boating. They are all in trouble due to their addiction to the electronic media: i.e shyness, accident while texting, cyber bullying, writing Amazon reviews etc. They give up the gizmo world and are assigned tasks like "write a hand written letter" or play a board game...things they have difficult doing. I really liked this aspect of the movie as the effect the electronic media has had on society still lacks data points. This was a way to build character and to eliminate cell phones before it digresses into a bad abduction story with a guy who plays violent video games and has trouble relating to people. The main problem I had was there were too many girls to get to know. It was difficult to establish all those characters. The second problem I had was that the first half of the picture was pretty darn decent as a separate film. I resented the second half as it didn't meet with my formulaic expectations: The girls learn skills and then bond and combine their skills to "Rambo" their foe. Instead the second half was a second rate human prey film. For several of the actresses, this was their first film, apparently college drama students. They did a first rate job, perhaps having lived the early roles that they played. Having said that, if you expect a horror film, expect one with more screams then horror. There is really no suspense or terror factor. Might work as a fright film for young teen girls.Parental Guide: No f-bombs, sex, or nudity.

I thought this film started off okay and i thought all of the actors were okay and i liked the idea of all of the girls going away on a camping trip with this older women.the idea of the trip was to get away from home and explore and have fun and the women who is looking after them doesn't want them to have any mobile phones with them which i thought was all rather "convenient". So lets think about this now,a group of girls are going away on a boat trip far away to camp and they aren't aloud to have any mobile phones with them.its rather dumb if you ask me. so of course if something bad happens to them they wont be able to call for help. the film was quite predictable, its one of those films where you know something bad is going to happen and you know when it will happen. The film starts off with a girl and her family out on a camping trip.her parents are putting up a tent and while they are doing this the girl is wandering around away from them and she's listening to music and she has her headphones on which again was all rather "conveniant". I really am getting tired of all these horror movie clichés. so predictably because she has her music blaring in her ears she never hears when a man comes up behind her then he puts his hand over her mouth and drags her away.the girl barely put up a fight which annoyed me,as i thought she could have done more to stop him,and quite conveniently her parents never see or hear a thing because they're too busy with their stupid tent to even realise their daughter had wandered off.she may have been a teenager but they still should have been keeping an eye on her.the man drags the girl all the way through the woods without the girl making so much as a sound which is so Dumb, and of course there is no one else around in the woods either, once again how "conviniant".we see the man drag the girl onto his boat and then the film skips to Ten years later and we are introduced to a group of girls who are all going on a camping trip as i mentioned above, the older women is like their carer so she looks after them and so forth. As i said before i thought the start of the film was okay,it had a few problems but i was able to put up with that and keep watching because i liked the idea of a group of people out on a boat travelling out to their camping ground. Now Granted i didn't know much about the characters but i was willing to let that go too because the movie seemed interesting even if it was a little slow.we started to know a bit more about the characters when they reached their camp site and they camped around a fire but after that, that's when everything goes down hill.A strange looking boat pulls up in the river right near their camp site that night. once again should i say how "conviniant".it just happened to pull up there of all places where the girls are.the couple in the boat were fooling around and making loud noises and stupidly one of the girls yelled out hey keep it down over there!.i'm guessing that was supposed to be a joke but the man on the boat obviously didn't see it that way and he yells at the girl to shut up through his loud speaker and he calls her names and of course that's when i knew the man on the boat was a psycho because who in their right mind would start yelling angrily at a girl just because she was messing around?.(its called A joke). And predictably the guy on the boat does turn out to be a psycho and there is a women on the boat with him and she was acting so weird it was obvious she was just as nutty as he was!. once again can i say predictable. we find out the couple are working together and they are killers and they start to chase the girls and they end up getting killed off one by one. i must say the man does most of the chasing predictably and his partner the weird women she seems to just be going along with the whole thing for craps and giggles.she never does anything other than follow the psycho around.I thought the story would go somewhere but it never did. the man and his weird partner spend the whole film chasing the girls around in the woods.why are they doing that you ask?.No reason its never explained. This film had potential but sadly it fell into a pile of crap! and by the end of the film i didn't care what had happened at all because there was such a lack of story and motivation of the killers. Frankly i thought the ending of the film was Lame and the surviving girl at the end of the film does not even put up a fight which made me not care about her stupid week character.whining and crying seemed to be the only things she was good at and nothing else. And at the end of the film when i found out who the weird women really was that just made me Angry. To sum things up i Didn't like this film i thought it was Boring and forgettable.skip this Film and Take A Nap instead.

I saw a film that looked great, shot on a micro-budget with no name actors that all delivered superb performances. Thomas Wilson Brown (Honey, I Shrunk the Kids) makes his long awaited return to film and delivers a chilling performance that is fabulously creepy!! Those that seek heavy blood and gore, you'll have to look elsewhere as Glenn Withrow opted to shoot more Hitchcock style with the violence than Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive). Now there wasn't a true protagonist, which would have been preferred, since most of us need a hero to pull for, but this was written by a first time writer while in high school. For this first attempt, I have to applaud this young lady. The performances and visuals keep this film interesting and a must see for movie lovers. Bravo...

I just saw this movie and at first i thought that it was not worth my time because it took a lot of time to get to the point..The cast is unknown except Thomas Wilson Brown who was pretty good at his part.In my opinion they should have cast another known actor so that the movie attracts more people. The blonde teacher was unknown to me,i didn't recognize her from any movies that I've watched. The bad thing about the film was the shaky camera which hurt my eyes a bit and the fact that the place that the girls went to camp was not appropriate because it was in the middle of the jungle so it is natural that something bad will happen and who goes somewhere unknown without at least a cellphone??It's like you're waiting it to happen..The ending for me was predictable but then again I've seen so many movies so i should know by now how some of them may end.I recommend this movie because low budged films deserve a chance and not everything has to be Hollywood perfect.
