THE END OF THE WORLD IN FOUR SEASONS came up with a wonderful gimmick, though it didn't seem to do much with it. Instead of one story being told at a time, the screen is made up of 8-9 squares in which various stories are occurring at the same time. While this idea worked great in FLATLIFE (2004), here the gimmick just seemed like a gimmick--with very little payoff. I wish that more of the stories in the boxes had intersected and played against each other more. Instead, you just see some simple animations doing,...well,...not much of anything--set to the music of Vivaldi. I kept waiting and hoping but the stories just didn't seem interesting and I was soon bored. A nice idea indifferently executed.
