The characters in the movie make decisions that do not make any sense. The story line is awful. It is not scary at all. Do not see this movie. It is one of the worst horror movies ever. Do not see it. It is really stupid. Do not see it. See Halloween if you want to see a really scary movie. Do not see this.

So much about this film makes no sense. The juxtaposition of American and South African accents with no sense of where its supposed to be set.The killer is a complete blank,we never find out if hes a "demon" of the title or just some homicidal nut. Many of the murders make no sense whatsoever,he kidnaps women, kills people randomly and does this weird heavy breathing.Police are nowhere to be seen. And it feels like two different films merged into one, with the Cameron Mitchell psychic subplot being only connected via the killer with the two nubile young women whose scenes in a state of undress are the highlight. As mentioned by others the transfer to DVD is terrible,my copy also wrongly states the release year as 1971.

Actually, although it fits that sub-genre and quite clearly is attempting to copy the associated clichés and tropes, technically no such slashing or gore actually takes place. Obvious similarities to other movies aside, clearly some attempt was made to be even a little different in it's structure and approach. Suffocation, the masked killer's preferred M.O., actually comes across very effectively and gives the film at least a hint of originality. His preference for stalking and terrorising young, pretty girls is fortunate from a voyeur perspective and so occasionally we are treated to a bit of nudity, purely exploitatively of course! To say Cameron Mitchell was under-used in this film would be a huge understatement; his untimely and inexplicable end comes all too abruptly to have felt the remotest emotional investment in his character. Not that we do with any of the array of The Demon's victims, who all act frustratingly random and stupid, although somehow ironically this propels the action further by giving it a bizarre and unpredictable quality.Shots of apparent action in complete darkness and cut-aways of waves crashing on a beach only hinder the already confusing and disjointed plot; it was seemingly structured and edited by a mad-man! And don't get me started on the insane script!Overall, what this movie lacks in technical value, appears to gain in atmosphere and individuality (which helps a bit considering it's a shameless Halloween rip-off). It's not a terrible movie, it's just not that well done.

After home invasion and kidnapping of a young girl an older couple decides to hire a mystic(Cameron Mitchell)with extrasensory perception to find missing child. There is also demonic strangler on the loose, who kills some victims and stalks a nursery school teacher."The Demon" is "Halloween" clone from South Africa. The climax resembles John Carpenter's dark house stalk with the exception of the Strode-like blonde teacher running topless in panties around the house and locking herself in the bathroom to finally defeat her masked stalker with a pair of scissors."The Demon" is slow-moving and lacks suspense and gore.Still it's watchable enough to give it 6 out of 10.
