I noted 10 because: - I found the film entertaining and I never got boredThe film was unpretentious and often funny The acting was descent The scenery was nice There was just enough action I was extremely surprised by the awful reputation of this filmIf you don't want to see a film many times until eventually understanding the story, and are just looking for a simply enjoyable evening that will not imply complexities, this film is not a bad choice.
... View MoreThe very first users critic gave this movie 3 "for being kind". Well, I was thinking of 1, but simply to give my credits to the Spanish actors, lead by Veronica Echegui, and the stunt directing/crew for some fine stunts, I'll go as far as up to 2. It's by no means their fault that this is a very bad movie. It also makes about no meaning to put Bruce Willis up in the beginning, doing at least as good as he is expected to, but then just to be killed. This turn says much about the intention the screenwriters and director must have had. They don't deserve to have their names mentioned. Henry Cavill also is about average, being very sporty and running a lot in the leading role. The biggest BUT though is his nemesis in the story is played by none other than Sigourney Weaver. She's doing her worst acting ever. Dear Sigourney, has it really come to this? If I could warn her up front, I'd say the same as to everyone about this movie, Stay Away!
... View MoreTHE COLD LIGHT OF DAY is a Bourne-type thriller that attempts to set Henry Cavill up as a modern-day action star prior to his debut as Superman in MAN OF STEEL. Unfortunately it turns out to be a right load of preposterous rubbish, a uniformly rubbish film replete with bad technical values and a sub-par script. What went wrong? The story's obviously horrible, a mixture of predictability and contrivance, with Israelis and corrupt government agents fighting for possession of an important suitcase filled with...oh, I don't know. It doesn't matter, because you don't care about any of the characters, particularly the arrogant and pig-headed lead played by Cavill. The British actor seems to have lost all of the charisma and confidence he displayed in THE TUDORS, delivering a performance both wooden and stilted.Elsewhere, we get a tired-looking Bruce Willis doing his action man routine yet again, and a miscast Sigourney Weaver looking seriously out of place. The actors giving the best performances are those in supporting roles: BIRDSONG's Joseph Mawle as an assassin and POINT BLANK's Roschdy Zem as an Israeli agent. The most irritating thing about THE COLD LIGHT OF DAY is that the action is so badly handled; the car chases go on forever and look ridiculous, and most of the action is filmed in some rubbishy day-for-night style which makes it look very poor. This is definitely one to miss, no better than the level of a sub-par B-movie.
... View Moreit's not as bad as reviewers make it out to be (trust me I've seen worse films with bigger budgets and cast mates than this) but I will say this, the advertisement for this film is quite misleading. Bruce Willis is hardly in the film and the rest of the story pays a heavy price for that. That said, going in I thought Will Shaw (Henry Cavill) would be the one attracting the evil eye towards his family during their vacation in Spain but was pleasantly surprised to find that it was actually his father Marty Shaw (Bruce Willis) and his secret life that ultimately puts the family in harm's way. The directing was a bit off and this showed on every character including veterans actors like Sigourney Weaver and Bruce Willis. The script was solid but could have been executed better.
