I did actually manage to watch this whole movie, but it was a painful experience. I saw another review that mentioned how the girl playing Brittany looked nothing like her - she may have had the curly hair that Murphy had during the filming of Clueless, but that was about the extent of it. It was pretty awful to watch.Having recently seen that fabulous documentary film about Amy Winehouse, I can say that this movie was worlds and worlds apart from the Amy one. Then again, the Amy one was full of actual documentary footage. This one was a really awkward telemovie that shouldn't have ever been produced.I saw that Murphy's father called it 'trashy' - I couldn't agree more. I think Murphy deserves something much better.

WTF!!! This movie was beyond bizarre. A travesty. I loved Brittany Murphy in Clueless, The Ramen Girl. She (unlike this 'actress') had talent, perfect timing and star power. It saddens me that they have cheapened her life story and produced a thoughtless, badly researched piece of crap and tried to pass it off as a "movie." An appalling waste of 1 hours and 25 minutes of my life. Sherilynn Fenn I am particularly appalled with you! There is something to be said for movies that add or educate This movie was none of this. An Appalling Mistake. Given I have to do 10 lines I shall repeat. And whats with the 4 minute death scene??

This was pretty terrible, even by Lifetime standards. I think the biggest problem (amongst many) was the girl who played Brittany Murphy (Amanda Fuller). Not only did she looking nothing like Brittany but she doesn't embody her in any way; speech (that cute scratchy voice), mannerisms, hairstyles, or clothing. Just a very dry performance that could have been done by anyone.Honestly they did a better job casting the Ashton Kutcher lookalike than Brittany, you could at least tell who he was supposed to be. The dude playing Simon Monjack (the husband) was cast well too.I also never felt like this was "the true story" or that I gained any insight whatsoever into her life, it all just felt like speculation. Her initial rise to stardom was interesting, I guess but it seemed to happen very quickly, almost glazed over with the movie focusing to a lesser degree on her career and more on her relationships with Simon and her mother -who figures prominently throughout. She meets Simon early on, he's suggested as creepy and even criminal. I actually remember being shocked when I saw pictures of the man she'd married -what was that all about? There are hints of struggles with weight, heart problems, self esteem and paranoia regarding the paparazzi.Ultimately this doesn't tell an interesting story or capture Brittany in any way. Her death is left a mystery, as is her marriage to Simon and how he also died. 2/24/15

Before watching the movie I thought all the negative reviews were coming from disgruntled family, or super fans that wouldn't be happy with anything. Boy was I wrong! All the harsh comments were totally deserved. I won't stoop to the level of name calling, but I am empathetic toward those critics. It was a total casting catastrophe. A. Fuller was so far away from resembling Brittany Murphy that it wrecked the credibility of the rest of the movie. I would only recommend wasting the time to watch it if your curious to see how bad it is yourself. Don't don't don't take anything in the movie as factual, and pray that a true biopic is released as soon as possible. I don't know any of Britt's family or friends but I feel terrible that they have to see her defamed so horribly. R.I.P. Brittany Murphy
