Was very fond of Woody Woodpecker and his cartoons as a child. Still get much enjoyment out of them now as a young adult, even if there are more interesting in personality cartoon characters and better overall cartoons. That is in no way knocking Woody, because many of his cartoons are a lot of fun to watch and more and also still like him a lot as a character. It is always interesting to see something different from the norm, and 'Termites from Mars' for Woody Woodpecker couldn't be more different. Not having Wally Walrus or Buzz Buzzard for a change was a nice change and it was interesting to have a more imaginative and sci-fi-based concept with some tension in conflict with the Martians. This makes it stand out from the rest of the Woody Woodpecker cartoons and is actually one of my favourites of his.Very funny and never obnoxious here (like him as a character but will admit that that trait has come through in some of his cartoons), Woody carries this cartoon very well. The Martians are fun foils. As ever, the animation is very good. The characters are well drawn, but even better are the rich colours, meticulously detailed backgrounds and smooth backgrounds.Music is another strength here. It's characterful, lushly orchestrated and is not only dynamic with the action it even enhances it. There are some funny and suspenseful moments littered throughout and the ending was refreshingly atypical.Overall, wonderful. 10/10 Bethany Cox
