I liked this movie a lot. It has a captivating story, a fast pace, a solid and intelligent direction and editing, and some very convincing acting by the three protagonists. The build-up of the movie totally worked for me: we start in the present (a guy is found along the road after being hit by a car, and evidently he has something to do with the missing of two other friends) and then by long flash-backs (seen through his eyes) we gradually come to understand what (really) happened. This stays interesting and surprising up until the very end, which proves how good the script is. In my opinion the three main actors (Rachael Leigh Cook, Shawn Hatosy and Jonathan Rhys Meyers) are equally good and convincing in their parts. The difference in impact lies mainly in the script. Cook's character is - in my opinion - the least interesting, she's a bit of a bossy bitch who plays with Hatosy while being very much infatuated with Rhys Meyers, and there aren't that many layers in her character. To be honest, I could hardly understand the attraction she apparently had on these two guys, apart from her looks she's extremely nasty and arrogant. Hatosy has to play the third wheel on the love-triangle and although he's portrayed as the sound and serious and thus a bit dorky member of the threesome, Hatosy very convincingly shows how the growing frustration and jealousy is slowly eating him away. Besides this strong acting he's also very good-looking in an all-American kind of way. The contrast with Rhys Meyers couldn't be bigger. His part is undoubtedly the most exciting one and he makes full use of all the possibilities this brings. He's almost exotic compared to Hatusy, he's exuberant and unpredictable, very charismatic and extremely sensual. During this movie Rhys Meyers was still some six years away from his definite rise to fame as King Henry VIII in The Tudors, but it's all already there, he has this eerie sexual aura that seems to be part of the man, regardless of the role he plays. I recently saw the miniseries Gormenghast (very recommendable by the way!) made in the year 2000, in which he shines for the very same reasons. But don't get me wrong: it's not just the looks, this guy is really a great and gifted actor! My only objection concerned the small part of the female detective who interrogates Hatusy in the present and tries to piece all the information together. The script doesn't provide her with a real character or any believable commitment, so she remains a rather life-less instrument to tie the different parts of the movie together. In her limited screen-time (it can't have been much more than 5 minutes in total) Lorraine Bracco may succeed in looking constantly bewildered and puzzled during extreme (and not always flattering) close-ups, but her acting seems strangely awkward, as if she hasn't the faintest idea what the hell she's doing in this movie or what's expected of her. But all in all it's this is an exciting and entertaining movie and I rank it 8 out of 10.

Despite all the negative reactions I read, I consider Tangled unexpectedly enjoyable for a popcorn movie and worth watching. Maybe the scenario is not that shiny and the whole concept could have been processed in a much more impressive way, but still, it's a fine piece. The story tells about the love triangle of young American high school students. The warm-hearted David (Shawn Hatosy) secretly admires his best friend, beautiful photographer Jenny (Rachel Leigh Cook). When David's old friend, crazy and attractive, heedless Alan comes on the scene, Jenny falls in love with him. How will David deal with it? Especially Rhys Meyers did a good job. He's also very cute. Everybody has to love him as the beautiful and uncontrollable heartthrob Alan. The movie has an interesting cut sometimes. The story is perceived from retrospective and has a surprising ending. It's nothing intellectual or sophisticated surely, not artistic and not as complicated as it might look. But if you just want to relax and get amused (and if you like some of the lead actors starring here), you should watch it.

Just as Dimension Pictures provided Kirsten Dunst with her best and sexiest role in the spider-free "Crazy/Beautiful" -- now Rachael Leigh Cook with a part in "Tangled" that brings out the full range of her talent as an actress, and her magnetic sex appeal. Two young men are best friends, but one has Rachael Leigh Cook for his girl friend. A common problem in real life but seldom in non-comedy movies, the other guy likes Rachael but of course he keeps this buried and quietly accepts the fact that Rachael wants and belongs to the other guy. But things can change.......There is a 1 minute 43 second scene which I've lifted from the movie and show people as "Almost Two Minutes in Paradise" --- one man's dream is fulfilled after a 2 year effort including betrayal and literally stabbing his best friend in the back: Rachael wakes up and after kissing the guy on the cheek begins a ragging fit screeching about her not finding her cigarettes. When her Marlboro's are found after numerous 4 letter words and slamming around, the seizure stops and she coyly smiles in the young man's face. True happiness! Great moments are NOT romantic moonlit walks on the beach. Such ideas are for shallow losers. Great romantic moments are being with a 90 lb spitfire, full of life, overloading your heart, ragging on a guy at 8 AM before the coffee's had time to drip.

A great film, the actors, especially Jonathan Rhys Meyers played very well and the events in the film are exciting! The end was really shocking for me! Alan (Jonathan Rhys-Meyers) falls in love with Jenny and they have an affair, however, there is still the jealous friend (DAVID) of them who is fallen in love with Jenny, he does everything to be with Jenny!I believe that he was never better than Jonathan Rhys-Meyers! As said, the film is exciting with pair of quite cool scenes:)I also think that every JONNY fan should see the film and not only the fans :)
