Let me start by saying that this film is most definitely not for everyone. Even if you love crime capers in general, there's still a good chance you'll hate this one. The story is lukewarm at best, nothing new here. I am personally a big fan of Matt Dillon, so this one scored some points for me there. But I'd say the best reason to watch this is if you're curious to see Chris Brown trying to act. It's not great, but here it is. It is what it is.

Takers is an action packed movie filled with numerous twists and turns. It has many realistic elements that the audience often overlooks. It has many elements that make it very realistic and relatable to the audience. It stars many known actors and was directed by John Luessenhop. John Luessenhop has directed films including Lockdown and Texas Chainsaw. He also created and directed multiple series including Mind Games, Kyle Kellen, Lone Star on FOX and Awake on NBC. Although Takers is Luessenhop's most famous film, he has contributed and been a part of many other projects. Matt Dillon, T.I., Idris Elba, Michael Ealy, Paul Walker, Chris Brown, and Hayden Chrisitensen star in this action thriller. Having seen these actors in previous action and drama movies is what sparked my interest to watch this film. Idris Elba and his associates live a spectacular life due to numerous bank robberies, that they avoid getting caught for. A former member (T.I.) comes and interrupts their celebration about a current job. They are offered their biggest job yet, but contemplate if this ridiculous amount of cash is worth the risk. I found this movie to be realistic is some was and no tin others. For example, crimes do happen often, especially in big cities. There are usually groups of people and sometimes single people who choose to commit crimes, more specifically, bank robbery. Showing events that also happen in real life makes it relatable to its viewers. The element that makes it unrealistic is how they get away with the crime. (Spoiler Alert) They rob the bank by hacking the cameras in the bank and coming in through the elevators from the roof. In real life, this would most likely not work. Anyone or any group of people that have robbed a bank hardly ever get away with it without being caught. In this film, there are also many hidden morals within the plot. I can explain some of them, without giving spoilers. For example, there is a sense of brotherhood between the guys that the director wants the audience to notice. Expressing the loyalty between the guys is a very important attribute to the film. This is another element that makes the film realistic. This film has a original plot to me because I most crime movies, it is usually shot from the victim's perspective and not the actual robbers. Takers shows what the "robbers" thought an how they planned to get away with the crime. Being a rated PG-14 movie, there is not a lot of bad language. There is some language, but none that would be too bad to take a young child to see. The rating comes more from the effects. There a lot of guns and explosives that are used. This also adds to the originality of the movie. There are similar action movies that have similar dynamics but I have not seen any that accomplished the same morals and themes as this movie. I rate this film 8 out of 10 stars because I think it has a wonderful story line that keeps the audience interested. It represents the different elements well, such as plot, acting, directing, and script. It is a movie that is definitely worth the watch and will keep you on the edge of your seat every second.

TAKERS is a repackaging of HEAT for the young, urban, male crowd. This film tries so hard to be hip that it hurts - it's obviously targeted at a black demographic with its casting of various uninteresting rappers-turned-actors and the like - and yet it plays out a tired old story which has been told time and time again. It's hard to know what's more disappointing here, the clichéd story or the entirely unremarkable direction. The story features a couple of weary cops (a tired-looking Matt Dillon and a 'remember him?' Jay Hernandez from HOSTEL) as they track down a large gang of robbers planning to carry out their latest audacious heist. All of the crime and heist clichés are present and correct here, but the characters aren't; the team of scriptwriters fail to make anybody in the least bit likable, so you just can't muster up the enthusiasm to care about what happens.Paul Walker's here in a minor bit of tokenism to draw in FAST AND FURIOUS viewers. Hayden Christensen (STAR WARS: REVENGE OF THE SITH) shows up, but has such a lack of presence that I didn't realise it was him until late on in the proceedings. The best performance goes to Idris Elba as one of the gang members, but he's given so little to work with that you wonder why he showed up. TAKERS is an example of Hollywood cookie-cutter movie-making at its worst.

Well, something went wrong here. The plot is coming along too fast and it is very poorly directed. It does not give you enough time to reflect over what is unfolding and it is difficult to gain any interest in the characters and to understand any of the background story. It feels extremely fragmented, with each scene shot being way too short, and with uninteresting dialogue forcefully thrown in at a high pace.Successful bank job movies are typically characterized by the heist itself being conducted in a very clever manner, possibly in combination with some really impressive action scenes. 'Takers' lacks on both parts, although some of the action scenes are quite OK. I'm not impressed.
