Working in an isolated hospital, a doctor attempting to create a serum for patients to get through surgery better finds that his work has created a race of flesh-eating zombies that are targeting a group of college students on a field trip and tries to stop the creatures. This wasn't all that bad of a low-budget zombie effort. Among it's better features here is the fun and engaging storyline that works quite nicely for this one, giving it a stronger outing than most ever accomplish. Taking the two different story lines here, from the scientists' race to keep the serum hidden away from the agents to the field trip conveniently nearby gives this one the kind of set-up that is far more involved yet still seemingly logical enough throughout here which is rarely accomplished here for these kinds of efforts. That allows this one to go for two rather intriguing and enjoyable set- ups at the same time, with the hospital antics featuring the staff getting tormented by the reanimated zombies in the wings and corridors as well as letting this one get the students being attacked out in the woods nearby for tons of low-budget fun. While in the hospital, this one features the great double attack in the morgue where the creatures rise up and attack the couple there, the battles with the swarm emerging out of the basement and the later scenes where they all encounter the creatures when they return to the hospital. As well, the swamplands battles are far more fun as the continuously approaching zombies keep going after not only after the students but also the interlopers that appear which leads to the attacks on the fishermen, the coeds by the beach and the rangers out patrolling the area which leads to plenty of highly enjoyable scenes. Utilizing the rugged, unnatural location to great effect, there's plenty to like here with the zombies able to continuously get the surprise on their victims with the ability to swarm and then overpower their target which gives this a nice feeling of continuity with all the attacks coming together in the same manner which gets enhanced with the addition of the police officers who get involved in the second act which puts that into greater use than before. With this all comprising the second half of the film, there's a lot of rather fun and engaging action scenes that show their encounters and escape attempts to get away from the horde of creatures featured, giving this one the necessary gore and fine zombie make-up to really be worthwhile. There's still a few problems with this one that holds it back, which mainly comes from the film's overlong length that really had no reason to be as long as it is. Pushing two hours on a set-up like this isn't required since utilizing all these different story lines throughout here as it's way too busy and convoluted to tell this kind of simplistic story, requiring it to be far longer than necessary. The other big part of this one that really holds it back is the cheesy low-budget nature of this one, which is quite obvious and really leaves this feeling cheaper than it really should be with the gore effects and technical issues on display which really screams low-budget, one- take filmmaking. It's not enough to hold this back completely, but there's a lot taken away with these flaws.Rated R: Graphic Language, Graphic Violence, Nudity, a sex scene and some drug use.

This film is bad. No question about it. But rather than just criticize the film for its faults I thought I would also point out some of the good things about it and explain the reasons for some of the flaws as well. For example, most of the actors were amateurs and it showed. However, this was an ultra low-budget production and as a result hiring top-notch professional actors was definitely out of the question. So the director, (Len Kabasinski) had to make do with whatever was available. With that in mind, I actually thought some of the scenes were somewhat adequate, particularly those involving "Dr. Phillips" (Shannon Solo) and to a lesser extent some of the scenes with "Lillian Carter" (Jasmin St. Claire). Unfortunately, these barely average scenes were few and far between. Likewise, the script was actually okay. It was the way the other actors delivered their lines that left me less than impressed. Even so, as bad as the acting may have been, the fight scenes were much worse. Yet instead of minimizing them the director chose to present one after another. Of course, the fact that he was one of the characters in the film ("Jack") who was involved in several of the fight scenes might be a key reason for this. Regardless, they were still pretty awful. Ditto the makeup for the zombies. Anyway, having said all of this, I believe that this movie could have been salvaged if it had focused more on Dr. Phillips and Lillian, put more emphasis on makeup and minimized physical combat. It didn't and the final product suffered accordingly. So, while allowances could be made for the lack of financial resources available, the fact remains that this movie could have been better in spite of it all. That said, while it isn't the worst zombie movie I have ever seen, it was certainly bad enough.

I have a hard time believing that this movie was made. That means that the crew/cast actually read the script and decided, "sure, let's produce this!" The writing is terrible, the acting is worse, the special effects are a joke, the cinematography was most likely preformed by a child, and the editing is so bad that I can't believe even Brain Damage would accept such trash. This isn't fun bad, this is not worth your time to even make fun of bad. I love zombie movies and this is a disgrace to the entire genre. If the filmmakers know what is good for them, they would stop making the world suffer through their terrible monstrosities and go to work in another field.

Words cannot really describe how bad swamp zombies is. You have to see it to believe it, but i don't wish that punishment on anybody.Swamp Zombies by director and star Len Fabianksi is the story of a doctor who is trying to bring the dead back to life, but when federal agents come to inspect the hospital he is working in he must ditch the cadavers quick. So basically the bodies get dumped in the lake and there are a bunch of kids near the swamp and after a storm the bodies come back to life and try feasting on the living. The acting is THE worst i have ever seen, i've seen school plays with better acting. The direction is also terrible, has this guy never heard of 'Take 2' the actors and even he himself fluff their lines on camera and did they never think of re doing that take? The make up effects are the best thing in the film, but again nothing to brag about considering the rest of the film is garbage. The zombies look ridiculous and the blood looks like red syrup. Also you never really see any decent shots of the zombies taking chunks out of people, you just see them sucking on their arms and blood coming out. Some shots linger on for too long and are completely unnecessary, for instance a 1 or 2 minutes long shot of old whore Jasmine st Claire in the shower, it brings nothing to the film and doesn't join on to another scene, my guess is the male crew told Len it would make a good addition to the film and also that they should all watch. On the IMDb boards director Len has faced the criticism with rants about how this movie is meant to be a campy horror film with some shots made for laughs.Well Len, in short, it isn't a fun campy horror film. Its boring, dull and painful to watch. You mention that the scene where the old man runs screaming through the trees is supposed to be funny, well i didn't know that when watching because that guys acting skills made me believe that was his best attempt at being terrified. Even if it was played for laughs, it isn't funny nor is anything else in the film.As the film neared its end i was expecting to see a very basic credits list maybe a crew of 3 or 4 people doing numerous jobs. So i was shocked to see their is a quite large crew. Why any of them agreed to doing this project after they read the scripts is beyond me.I honestly thought that this was a film made by a kid fresh out of film school with a couple of hundred bucks.I know the budget of $12,000 is small but they could have at least used a decent camera.I didn't pay to watch this film, which i am glad i didn't and when i can get the directors second film 'curse of the wolf' for free i will watch that too, out of pure curiosity as the director mentions that it is a much better film which shows that he has advanced as a film maker. After seeing the trailer i doubt that.Maybe you should hang up your film makers hat Mr Fabinaksi, your first two ideas for films have been zombies and werewolves, so your hardly original, you have 0 talent when deciding what angles to use and you cant write a script. The editing is appalling, in one scene two people are fighting in broad daylight one second and the next its pitch black. After nearly every shot the actors will be standing still and in the wrong positions from the last shot. The sound was THE worst I've ever heard in a film that is listed on IMDb, in some scenes you can barely hear the actors and in others their voices nearly broke my speakers. Its blatantly obvious from one shot to another as the background noise changes completely. Just to sum up how bad and amateur it is, in once scene where the blue meanie and a woman in a bikini are supposed to be in a cabin/hut in the middle of a swamp you can clearly hear a car whizzing by in the background.Ther fight scenes are again terrible, no one actually gets hit, just one person will kick near another persons face and a 'wham' sound effect will be used. Seeing as most of the cast are trained in martial arts i would have expected better. Also the moves used in the fight scenes become very repetitive and the fight choreographer makes no attempt to change any of the moves used.1/10 By the way this film has inspired me though, if this junk can get distributed then surely i could get a film released too.
